Twinkie Banana Pudding
A new way to enjoy your banana pudding! Layers of sliced Twinkies, bananas, and banana cream pudding create a Twinkie Banana Pudding that’s like no banana pudding you’ve tried before!
What took me so long to come up with this?
I don’t even know, you guys. My love of Twinkies is so well documented. I’ve made Twinkie Tiramisu, Twinkie Strawberry Cheesecake Shortcake, Boston Cream Twinkies and Twinkie Pie. So much good, I can hardly stand it.
But the other day I was thinking about banana pudding made with pound cake cubes — I see that darn recipe everywhere — and I got to thinking…what if I used Twinkies?
That could be a thing, right?
Well, friends. It is now.
I know that Twinkies are zombie apocalypse survival food, but I’m not sorry for this. They’re so dang delicious. Don’t try to deny it.
Also? Can we talk about how the worst thing you can ever do to another human is eat their last Twinkie and put the empty box back in the cupboard? That’s straight up Devil nonsense right there, you know it and I know it.
My son always puts the Kool-Aid pitcher back in the fridge with like 2 millimeters of Kool-Aid left, but that’s NOTHING in comparison to an empty Twinkie box. Nothing.
Also? The boys never refill the toilet paper in the bathroom they always use. Sometimes I go in there to pee and I see that the toilet paper is empty and I just go use the other bathroom out of PRINCIPLE. Then one of them finally refills the toilet paper, only they set it on the floor under the roll instead of putting it ON THE ROLL.
Still not as bad at the Twinkie box thing.
Consider yourselves warned. Don’t be that person.
If you have a favorite banana pudding recipe, feel free to use it here. Personally, I’m not a “cooked” banana pudding person. I’ve never liked the custardy texture and much prefer something combined with whipped cream, like the Magnolia Bakery Banana Pudding recipe.
Here, I just used Banana Cream pudding mix combined with bit less milk than called for on the box, then folded in freshly whipped cream. It has a great light texture, not quite as heavy as regular pudding, and because it’s banana flavored you can do without fresh bananas. I only use fresh bananas in my banana pudding if I’m serving it soon — ain’t nobody got time for brown bananas, am I right?
This recipe is so much fun, and so SO good. I could eat the pan by myself, but then my Fitbit would probably explode or something. Ugh.
Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 5.1 oz box Banana Cream Instant Pudding
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 box Twinkies (12 Twinkies), unwrapped and sliced
- 2 large bananas, sliced
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together instant pudding and milk until thick. Place in the refrigerator while you prepare whipped cream.
- In a chilled metal mixing bowl (I place it in the freezer 10 minutes prior to use) and a chilled mixer whisk attachment, beat whipping cream and powdered sugar on medium speed until it begins to thicken. Increase speed to high, beating until stiff whipped cream forms. Fold HALF of whipped cream into pudding with a rubber spatula, until smooth and combined.
- Line bottom of 9x13 pan, trifle dish, or small glasses or jars with sliced Twinkies. Top with sliced bananas and a layer of pudding. Repeat layers, topping with remaining whipped cream.
Notes
Makes about 10 servings in a 9x13 pan. Servings in small glasses or jars depends on size of glass.
This would be perfect for a 4th of July gathering, just saying.
Have a great day!

Oh this is so good…genius…delicious!!!
Oh my goodness! That’s genius! I may or may not be drooling a little bit.
I can’t believe it’s taken so long for this to happen! Also, placing the toilet roll on TOP of of the empty roller is my most favorite thing to come across. MOST FAVORITE! I’m lying.
Oh my goodness I love the looks of this :) Mmmm!!!
What a fun dessert!
You are an evil dessert genius!! Awesome idea to use twinkies in banana pudding! Our little bathroom is constantly out of toilet paper because of this issue…I never use that room anymore.
How fun is this treat! Love it :)
omg, yes please!!
People think I’m crazy because I have never tried a Twinkie. After reading this I think I may have to finally try one.
