This protein packed cinnamon toast frappuccino comes in at just around 150 calories! Not only is it super delish, it’ll keep you full for HOURS with no guilt!
I have an admission to make.
I’ve been cheating on you.
But wait! It’s not all bad! It’s just that…eating crap all the time was making me feel…kinda crappy? So I’m working towards striking a better balance — less junk, more not-junk, with some exercise thrown in for good measure. I’ve never been a gym person. Or a sweat person. Or a healthy food person. BUT I decided that 2018 was going to be the year that I felt and looked the best I ever had.
And that’s kinda a tall order considering that my 20’s ended almost 10 years ago.
Right now I am working out regularly and doing a diet that is known as “carb cycling.” Surprisingly, I don’t hate it. Unlike Whole30, which I tried and COULD NOT stick to, I get “healthy” carbs (rice, oats, beans, fruit, quinoa) every OTHER day, protein and veggies EVERY day, and basically…no sugar. Ever. Or bread. BUT! I get one cheat day a week but (you’re going to die when I tell you this) once I got over the intial crappy “I will kill someone for a piece of candy” feeling, I stopped getting excited about cheat days. Because I feel REALLY good. No bloat, tons of energy, and my belly fat is shrinking like I haven’t seen in YEARS.
Of course, I am not a doctor and not here to recommend this to you. This is simply to say, sometimes instead of cake, I have protein shakes nowadays. It won’t ALWAYS be to this extent, but I feel so good that I hope that once I meet my strength and fitness goals, I can do a better job of finding balance with junk food and meals that leave me sluggish and gross.
But don’t worry. I’ll still make you cake. I mean…I’m not a psychopath.
Now, listen. I am not a protein shake person. I have tried, and failed, to like them, until finally deciding to take matters into my own hands. I mean, I make desserts for a living. Surely I could figure out this protein shake situation?
Well guess what? Mission accomplished.
You may be skeptical, and that’s fair. But listen when I tell you to dust off that ol’ blender and find her (or him? or them? it’s 2018) a permanent spot on the kitchen counter, because you’re going to want one of these every morning.
Sweet, slushy, only 150 or so calories and over 20 grams of protein. It’ll keep you full until lunch, give you a decent little dose of caffeine, and tastes SURPRISINGLY like those ‘spensive Starbucks drinks we all like to splurge on.
Just saying, don’t knock it just yet.
