Father’s Day with Personal Creations
I’m sharing my favorite Father’s Day gifts from Personal Creations!
I hear people say all the time that Father’s Day doesn’t get the same amount of attention as Mother’s Day, and it’s true. I mean, moms ARE the ones who have to carry the kids and then, you know…BIRTH them, so that does give us a bit of a leg up.
(see what I did there)
However — I will agree that Father’s Day is not given enough fanfare. And dads deserve better than that. Because even if it SEEMS like they don’t do as much as moms, sometimes that is a carefully crafted strategy. Men have become hip to the fact that us women often like to be in charge.
So see? It’s a public service. They are taking the backseat so that we can shine with our multitasking selves. And they deserve a thank you for it.
My husband is a particularly amazing dad. By the time we had Lucy, we had been together for about 10 years and had an 8 year old son. And something about her being our last and us being older and more mature has really made him shine.
Don’t get me wrong — he was always a great dad. But when you get some years behind you, you realize how quickly your kids grow up and you take more time to enjoy the little things. There are days that I see him leave work to go pick Jon David at school and take him to lunch. He has spent Saturdays taking the kids to the mall or the park or the library so I can work. He often takes over Lucy’s bedtime routine, bathing her and buttoning up her Frozen nightgown and carefully brushing her long, wet hair.
Do you know what happens when you watch your husband carefully brush your 2 year old daughter’s hair while she sits patiently waiting in her Frozen nightgown? Your heart melts into a complete puddle, that’s what.
He is always telling me I’m beautiful, always encouraging me to travel or go out with my girlfriends or grab any opportunity that comes my way. “We will figure it out, no big deal, ” he always says, when I worry about who will watch the kids or how stressful it will be for him to manage it all while I’m gone. He’s never angry, never critical, and never questions my judgement. When first meeting someone that my husband knows, the first thing they always tell me is, “your husband is just so proud of you.”
I am so happy that my son gets to learn how to be a husband and a dad from him. And I am so thankful that Lucy is learning to look for a man who will love and support her and treat her like a treasure.
We all just love him so so much and are so grateful to celebrate Father’s Day with such a really thoughtful husband and dad.
So when Personal Creations asked if they could send me a few gifts for my husband for Father’s Day, I was like uh…obviously. Because this man deserve ALL THE THINGS IN THE WORLD.
The first thing I picked out was this adorable wall hanging. We will probably hang it up in Lucy’s bedroom, but I know it will make my husband smile. We always call Lucy a princess, and this will always remind him of just how much she loves and looks up to him.
My husband is currently building himself a shop in the backyard (well, I suspect that it’s actually a man cave) and I thought that this sign would be perfect. He’s been looking for things to hang up in it and he’s a contractor, so this is a perfect fit.
I bought my husband a #1 Dad coffee mug several years ago, but I thought this beer mug would be fun for drinking cold beverages out of. He loves the IDEA of beer but he doesn’t actually drink beer, so this is perfect. He will most likely drink root beer out of it and tell the kids he’s having “a beer” while I roll my eyes because it sounds like a joke someone’s grandfather would tell.
And lastly…this snack jar. My husband loves gum and mints, so he can keep this in his “shop” *cough cough man cave* on his desk.
I know that Jess is going to love all of his gifts! A huge thank you to Personal Creations for everything — this isn’t the first time I’ve ordered fun holiday stuff from them and it won’t be the last. They have the perfect gifts for any occasion and shipping is always SO FAST!!
Thanks so much for reading and have a very happy Father’s Day!
