Do you know those women who always have the cutest, most perfect stuff prepared for every occasion?
Like handmade cards.
Perfectly decorated gift bags.
Adorable themed treats.
I sort of used to be one of those women.
Notice I said USED to?
Because then I started making things for Internet People and I stopped having time to make things for real people. Yes, I know. My priorities disgust me, too.
However–the GOOD thing about having less time is that it forces me to get creative with minimal effort. And today’s treat is definitely for those of you who are low on time, but want to make something fun that WINS at Valentines!!
You DO want to win at Valentines, right?
Well. Let’s get started.
You’ll need Twinkies and lollipop sticks. You can usually find lollipop sticks at your local craft store. Sometimes there are two sizes, and you want the longer ones.
You also need white almond bark or candy melts.
Melt the candy coating according to package directions. Unwrap Twinkies, and dip the sticks about 1/3 of the way in the melted candy. Insert the sticks in the Twinkies and place on a wax paper lined baking sheet. When all of Twinkies have sticks in them, place the baking sheet in the freezer for 10 minutes. This is going to make the sticks stay in the Twinkies instead of sliding out.
If the white candy coating has set up a bit, melt it again in the microwave. Remove Twinkies from freezer and coat completely in the melted candy. Tap off the excess, and place back on wax paper lined baking sheet.
Once all the Twinkies are coated, drizzle with additional melted candy melts of your choice. I used red, pink, and dark chocolate. You can drizzle with a fork, or put the melted candy in a disposable piping bag with the tip cut off and squeeze it over the Twinkies in a zig zag motion.
Before the candy is set, sprinkle with festive sprinkles. I used tiny hearts, but anything Valentiney would be fine. There are tons of options at the craft stores and Walmart right now.
Place the pan back in the freezer for about 5-10 minutes until the candy is set.
Wrap in a long cello bag (you can also buy these at the craft store, they’re made for wrapping cookies or party treats), and tie with a ribbon so you can pass these babies out!!
But don’t give any to people who cut in line, chew with their mouths open, or litter. They don’t deserve one.
And save a few nineish for yourself. Obvs.
There you go, madams (and sirs? Are there any sirs out there?). You just became the Grand Champeen of Valentines.
