Mummy Twinkie Pops
If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you know that I have a love/hate relationship with Twinkies.
Meaning, I love to eat them and HATE when I reach in the box only to find that someone put it back in the cupboard empty.
Which happens. Often.
I mean, I deal with the fact that the boys never replace the toilet paper…even though a PREGNANT lady PEES A LOT AND NEEDS IT TO BE IN THERE and also the fact that they drink the Kool Aid until there is a centimeter left in the pitcher, then put it back in the fridge so they don’t have to make more.
I deal with it in a very civil matter.
But the empty box of Twinkies?
Unforgivable.
It’s the snack equivalent of spitting in someone’s eye.
Anyways — I love Twinkies.
I’ve made a handful of different Twinkie desserts over the past couple of years (Twinkie Pie, Pumpkin Twinkies, Boston Cream Pie Twinkies, Twinkie Tiramisu, and Valentines Twinkies), and I decided that Halloween Twinkies needed to happen.
These cute pops couldn’t be easier. There is no baking involved, and they are completely adorable and impressive.
This little video demonstrates exactly how simple they are to make!
I suggest dropping some off at daycare for snack, then going home and taking a nap. I mean…you don’t want your kids eating these at HOME, do you know how hyper they’ll be after?!
To make these cute treats, you’ll need:
Twinkies
Cookie Sticks — I prefer cookie sticks to lollipop sticks for these because they’re thicker and sturdier.
Candy Eyes — These are so much fun for Halloween and completely edible!!
Treat Bags and Ribbon — For wrapping
Wilton Melting Pot — If you’ve had any trouble melting chocolate/candy melts in the past, I highly recommend this melting pot. I finally bought one and I’m so glad I did!! Just throw your candy in it and walk away…it melts perfectly!!
(To purchase any of the necessary items, just click any of the items on the above list. I have links embedded in each to make things easier on you!!)
1. Insert top 1/3 of cookie stick in melted candy. Place in center of Twinkie. Place Twinkies on wax paper lined baking sheet and put in the freezer for about 15 minutes. This allows the stick to be firm in the Twinkie.
2. Coat Twinkies in melted candy, shaking off excess. Place back in the freezer for 10 minutes or so, until candy coating is set.
3. Using a fork, drizzle melted candy on the Twinkies by using a back and forth motion. Place eyes on the top 1/3 of the Twinkies. Place back on baking sheet in the freezer until set. Wrap and tie with ribbon.
I hope you love these as much as I enjoyed making them!!
Enjoy and have a very happy Monday!!

These are so cool!! Love this idea!
Sooooo flippin’ cute!
Super cutee!
Doesn’t your family know Twinkies are for research purposes only? And research is done solely by you? I think you need to address this issue at your next family meeting. While they feed you candy and fan you with grape leaves. Also, these are flippin’ adorable!
Absolutely genius!!!!!! I know what Little Buddy and I are making this week!
I freakin’ love this! Brilliant!
Um, hello! Awesome idea!
Oh good grief – these are the cutest things ever. I love twinkies, I admit. I haven’t had one in a very long time, but now I have a sudden urge to run to the store right this minute!
Love these!
Such cute Mummies! I hate finding ANY empty box in the pantry. I would hate to find these guys gone as well.
Those are the cutest mummies! What a creative Halloween idea!
HHow far in advance you can make for Halloween?
These are adorable!
I’ve only eaten a twinkie once in my life and it was fried. Isn’t that strange??
These are super adorable. I think I need you to make a zombie twinkie next, mkay?
Totally adorable.
Leaving empty boxes in the pantry is basically a sport in my house. I swear they have contests over who can garner the biggest reaction from me…
You are so creative! If only I would’ve known you back in the day … I could’ve rocked the class partays!
Wow, these are just too cute!
Can you imagine how hyper I’d be if I ate one of these??
Such a cute idea!!
Adorable!!! I can’t wait to make these.
These are SO adorable! Love them!
So cute! I am getting excited for all the Halloween treats to come!
These are way to easy to make and eat. I feel some fat pants coming on!
These are adorable!

This is my first time to your site. These are awesome! My weekly linky party–One Creative Weekend–has gone spooky this week in honor of my thirteenth party. If you haven’t already, I hope you’ll visit “One Creative Weekend” on OneCreativeMommy.com (open every Fri-Wed) and link up this idea and anything else you’d like to share. (You can include non-Halloween posts as well, but feel free to link up as many Halloween-themed posts as you like.) There are two categories—one for Halloween and one for everything else.
Love these! I’m planning on making them for a Halloween dessert table. I have a question though. Whenever I’ve use the wilton candy melts and dipped an item, it always seems so thick and it would kind of hold on to the item, if that makes sense. Do you recommend the Merckens brand over wilton? The twinkies you dipped, look so smooth and perfect.
I had trouble “dipping” the twinkie in when I made them. I used a spoon & put spoonfuls on top of twinkie & spread it around so mine weren’t as smooth looking but the drizzle sort of hides the messy mummy.
Ive had much better success if I add some shortening to the candy melts when melting them. It thins it out a lot. Ive dipped unfrozen cake pops in it with no issues. They come out much smoother and you use a lot less candy melts.
how much shortening do you put in?

THese were a HUGE hit at our Fall Festival at my kids school. I made 2 boxes and they were the first thing to go!!
How else can you melt the chocolate if you don’t have the Wilton Chocolate Pro Electric Melting Pot.
I melted chocolate for a Thanksgiving treat last year and couldn’t get the right consistency until I added
butter. It was not my intention but it was the only way I could get chocolate thin enough to cover marshmallows. I think I used the double boiler method (pot inside of pot with hot water).
Thanks in advance for answers.
I know the twinkie pops would be a huge hit. TFS!!
I’ve recently learned that if you use the wilton candy melts, you have to add shortening to it to thin it down. Candy melts are much easier than using straight chocolate, you can just pop them in the microwave in a plastic dish.
I was taught to NEVER use a glass bowl. However…..
I use a glass bowl and melt the chocolate on 50% and stir often. I have had great success for years. You can always put the chocolate back in the microwave when it starts to get thick.

Love the Twinkie idea for the mummies, but unfortunately too late for my Halloween party. So do you have any neat ideas to use them for Christmas or Thanksgiving? I love them also and this is so neat and yummy-looking!!
I made these with my kids. We passed out many and everyone loved them. THANKS!!!!!

I’m LOVING this project. I’m not new to the kitchen or baking, or being decorative(with icing). But I’m apparently a numb skull with Candy Melts. My Candy Melts are not melting to a liquid-y drippy smooth. I tried to “paint” the CM onto the twinkie…the twinkie is now all crumble-y in my double broiler. :( I’m super sad. Any advise? Thanks!
What a CUTE idea! I’m looking for something simple to throw together for my grandkids tomorrow and this will do wonderfully – hope WalMart has the candy eyes.
Just finished making mine and I know my grandchildren will love them! My “drizzling” didn’t turn out to look as nice as yours do . . . but they are presentable. I’ll do it again – probably not in great quantity, as one bag of the melts made only six mummy pops. Definitely works as a special treat for the grandkids tho. Thanks for sharing the recipe and tutorial.
I am so bummed!! I REALLY wanted to make these for my son’s Halloween party this year, but with being out of town I didn’t have a lot of time to prepare. I thought I would do them next year… Until today. The first thing I thought of when I heard about Hostess was these adorable yummy looking mummies. Oh, I am bummed, which I’m sure you are too. I’m going to go get a box and hope I don’t slip into a diabetic comw!
I made them with my kids. We passed out many and everyone loved them.
Hopefully there will be Twinkies next Halloween. I wish I bought a bunch so I would have them all set for next year. Not like these healthy foods ever expire.

But that doesn’t mean for ONE SECOND that I don’t believe how vital it is for every horse owner to develop skills in training a horse on some level.
At least one additional horse has been reportedly euthanized in the region, with veterinarians pointing to EHV-1.
In Bowerstone Old Town, there are a lot of vendors selling stuff, you can find some toy horse in this place.
