We have been hit with so much winter weather here in Arkansas. I’m sure you Northerners (and Easterners) would laugh at the amount of snow that confines us to our homes. Also, everyone runs and buys all the bread and eggs when there is even a 1% CHANCE of snow. I always have like two loaves of bread in my freezer because my regular grocery shopping resembles apocalypse preparation, so we are always fine.
Jon David was out of school two days this week and it’s looking like he may miss a day or two next week with the winter system moving in. The days just keep getting tacked on to the end of the year. Every day Jon David gets excited about school cancellation I remind him that he’s not getting a day off, he’s just BORROWING a day off and repaying it later. He’s all, “so, it still feels like a free day”. Seriously, never give this child a credit card.
After debating back and forth, I finally bought Maskcara’s new IIID Foundation Set. The reviews are SO mixed, but I finally figured I’d keep wondering if I didn’t just give it a whirl.
Well…so far, I’m not sure I’m feeling it.
I WANT to love it though, because her make-up tutorials are SO great. I really love her site!!
The first day I tried it, I thought it looked pretty great, although it’s a cream and the consistency is definitely something you have to get used to. I don’t think you’re supposed to set it with powder either, which felt weird for me.
I had problems during the day with my eye make-up smudging under my eyes because of the creamy consistency of the foundation, so the next day I decided to try it with setting powder…and it looked cakey. I’m using the primer and brush she recommends and I know there’s a learning curve…I’m just not sure I have the time or patience it’s going to take to learn it.
The highlighter and blush are pretty fabulous though, so if you’re on the fence, you should definitely try those two.
If you’ve had success with the kit and have any tips, I’d love to hear them!!
I am totally addicted to this tea!! I bought it at Walmart over the holidays and it kind of just sat there in the cabinet, but over the past month I’ve become more intentional about my morning time and getting up early to do my devotional.
I make a cup every morning to sip on and it is SO good. Keep in mind I am not a coffee drinker, so if you need caffeine first thing, this may be better for you at night. I finally bought a big pack of it on Amazon because I ran out and it’s not at the store anymore!! It tastes just like a sugar cookie. I add sugar to it (of course) but lots of people like it plain, too.
Here’s a picture of my Goose at Office Depot. Just because :)
I get asked about Jon David often, either through email or social media. He’s great!! Nine has been a big adjustment year for us — lots of changes in our dynamic and with his opinions and struggling for independence. It’s been difficult for me, and there are times I feel that I have to beg for his time or feel like I spend the entire day nagging. There are times I sit and let things go that I know I shouldn’t let go because I DON’T want to nag him yet AGAIN. He’s a great boy — so creative and smart and loving. But of course, there are always those ages where you have to navigate a shift and find a new balance.
For the past couple of months I have seriously started questioning myself as a parent — but the other day a friend’s mom was over and I found out that she was struggling with the same, and I felt so relieved. So — if you are going through this, know it’s a season and it will pass. And although you may not look back on that time FONDLY, it will seem a little less PAINFUL. Ha!!
Also, the above photo is a selfie he took while I was driving. Because he actually takes selfies now. And calls them selfies.
Are you doing Stitch Fix yet? I’m sharing the contents of my February box…I got some good, comfy stuff this month!!
I finally started Sherlock on Netflix and I LOVE it!! I never saw the appeal of Benedict Cumberbatch, but darn it, he is kind of adorable.
I’d love to hear what you’re reading/watching/eating/buying!! Tell me!!
Have a great weekend :)
