Happy Friday, everyone!!
I have gotten so far away from my Friday posts…I haven’t done a baby or a personal post in a long time.
To be honest, it’s been all I can do to stay afloat. Between this site, That’s What WE Said, and my job with Disney’s Spoonful, I’ve had to find a good system for juggling work and home. It turns out, it takes A LOT of organization and consistency to make it all work without me murdering someone.
So let’s just pray that I stay organized. We all know that I’d never last on prison food.
Last week, my friend Jessica did Lucy Goose’s pictures. Good grief, I can hardly even stand how adorable they turned out!!
There were tons of cute ones (you can see some previews on Jessica’s page HERE) but this one was my favorite. It’s not the perfect smile or perfect pose, but it captures her spirit and personality SO PERFECTLY. I love that this image will always allow me to remember her scrunched up nose and gap toothed grin. Lucy is ALWAYS making funny faces!!
I’ve been taking a photo of Lucy first thing every morning and posting it to my Instagram. I love babies right after they wake up — they’re so snuggly!! I’m planning on making a collage of a bunch of them at the end of the year and hanging it up in the house.
I want to talk to you about this stroller — I ordered it off of Amazon a couple weeks ago and I LOVE it so much.
I’ve had a smaller, lightweight stroller for Lucy for quite some time, but as she grows and as I’ve used it, I discovered features I want that it doesn’t have. I wanted something that would go over curbs, rocks, and bumpy grass easily. When the weather is nice, we like to walk to the school or the park and the small stroller wheels catch on anything in the grass or pavement and it wants to tip forward which is SUPER annoying!! Because of this, I started thinking about getting a jogging stroller. I don’t jog, but I love the big wheels and how easy and smooth they are to maneuver.
The other things I wanted were…cup holders!! The smaller stroller we were using didn’t have a cup holder for me OR for Lucy. As she’s gotten bigger, I cannot take her anywhere without a snack and some juice, so I definitely needed a tray for her and a spot so I could have a drink without trying to push a stroller one handed.
Lastly, I wanted a large basket underneath. Decent baskets are hard to find, and it’s annoying when you can’t fit anything in the stroller!!
After looking…and looking…and looking, I found this Graco FastAction Fold Click Connect Stroller. Compared to the BOBs I was looking at, the price was great — $160 vs $329, so about half the price.
I read the reviews on Amazon, which almost made it harder to decide. Some people LOVED the Graco, while others complained that it was too heavy, too bulky, and said the handle was too high. There’s a spot in between the cup holders for the parent to fit an iPhone, and many people said the iPhone 5 was too big, which was a concern also because that is the phone I have.
I finally decided to go to Target and take a look at the stroller in person. I pulled it down from the display, strapped Lucy in, and gave it a whirl (yes…I’m THAT person). It was a BREEZE to open/close. Just pull a lever, simple as that!! The handle bar was NOT too tall for me, and I’m short at only five feet, two inches. The handle IS tall, but not at all uncomfortable or awkward.
My phone did not fit in the holder horizontally like the picture above, but it did fit vertically. It has a little piece that holds it in place and it’s nice to be able to see if someone calls or texts.
The basket underneath is huge and easily accessible, and Lucy will definitely be able to fit comfortably in the seat for many more years. The stroller does take up quite a bit of room and is a bit heavy, but that is unavoidable. If you want a big, heavy duty stroller, you have to deal with…a big, heavy duty stroller. All in all, I am THRILLED with it and after trying it out at Target, I went home and ordered it.
The price at Target was $189, which was $29 more than the Amazon price…plus by ordering on Amazon, I saved almost $20 in tax, as our sales tax is just shy of 10%.
I was not paid or asked to share this stroller, but after agonizing (ALLTHECHOICES) and reading eleventy trillion reviews, I just wanted to share my thoughts in case you’re in the market too!!
I recently read How to be a Good Wife. It sounded scary and really good!! People — do NOT read this book. The ending was so weird and abrupt…I kept going back to see if I somehow skipped a whole chunk by accident. Bad book endings are basically the worst thing in the land. They should be ILLEGAL!!
On another note, I just started the first book in the Dark Tower series. I’d love to hear your thoughts!!
I’m recapping This Week in Pop Culture HERE. Spoiler alert — Biebs was dumb AGAIN. But the Bachelor Wedding was so fabulous. I cried like an idiot at the end!!
One way I’m staying organized is by being very intentional about meal planning. It is truly a lifesaver!! If you’re needing dinner inspiration, Shelly and I share a meal plan, as well as printable Meal Plans and grocery lists HERE every Monday!!
Have you subscribed to my weekly newsletter yet? It’s a really easy way to get all the content I post in one email. I grab a little bit of everything I’ve been doing and send it out every Friday. Then it goes out and I get emails that like five people unsubscribed and I’m like “WHYYYYYYYYY???? What did I do wrong?????” and I get all paranoid and question my life like a ridiculous person who cannot take criticism. Which I am.
Why do I work on the internet, again?
Oh!! One more thing — I got all Pinteresty this week and put together a Family Command Center in my kitchen. I’m SUCH A GROWN UP RIGHT NOW!! I’m planning on sharing it next week.
Have a great weekend!!
