Can a plain looking bottle of foundation deliver phenomenal results? When it comes to Estee Lauder Double Wear, I’m going with a big fat YES!! Read to see why I LOVE this foundation more than any other I’ve tried!
Oh you guys…I am SO excited about this review today! If you’re as obsessed with make-up as I am, or watch any number of You Tube make-up tutorials, you’ll often hear the term “holy grail” thrown around. Very VERY seldom do I find my holy grail anything — I am almost always willing to trade in my eyeshadow, lipstick, eyeliner, for another brand that promises more and better.
But this foundation? I am not giving it up. Holy grail all the way — it’s amazing!
When I was looking for a long lasting foundation I came across Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. After comparing other products, I decided to go with the Kat Von D Lock-It foundation instead…but when I started doing these reviews here, I decided to give the Estee Lauder a try just in case I liked it better.
And…yeah. I did like it better. I was actually shocked at how much more I loved it! This stuff absolutely stays in place (ALL DAY!! Even in heat), does NOT look cakey, and provides medium to full coverage depending on how you put it on.
What it promises: A 15-hour, flawless foundation that stays looking fresh and natural through heat, humidity, and nonstop activity.
Applied With: I moisturized with Mary Kay TimeWise Day Solution and primed with Mally Beauty Perfect Prep Poreless Primer. I applied the foundation using my hands, then blotted all over with a slightly damp Beauty Blender Sponge.
Pros: This stuff lasts all day (ALL DAY) even if you’re sweating or working out. It does not look cakey, does not make you look dry, and covers my undereye circles with no concealer. It goes on easily and doesn’t dry so fast that it’s difficult to put on. I also love that unlike with the Kat Von D, you can use a small amount of this if you’re going for a “less done” look through the weekdays. It also FEELS great. Not at all heavy on your face.
Cons: Um…none? The price is obviously an issue, but trust me when I say that a bottle will last quite awhile. It helps that you don’t need to freshen it up during the day. One application and you’re good.
Above are two pictures of me wearing the foundation — the photo to your left was taken right after application..the photo to your right was taken about 8 hours after application. Obviously there are on different days…after I did the first photo I realized I never did a photo after I’d been wearing it for awhile!
No filter was used on the photos. As you can see, both look pretty much the same as far as coverage and wear. I am normally super pale, but with it being Summer I am tanner and am wearing the shade Dusk. I highly recommend finding an Estee Lauder counter and getting matched — it’s too expensive to take a chance.
