Cool & Creamy Oreo Parfaits

You know that recipe you have, the one you always throw together when you need a dessert to take somewhere last minute?

That thing you make that’s so incredibly simple, you almost feel guilty when people take a bite and say, “OMG WHAT IS IN THIS???”

This is that dessert.

Honestly.  It’s ridiculously simple.  It’s one of those desserts that has been around forever, kids love it, adults love it, and the ingredient list is full of embarrassing stuff like Cool Whip and pudding mix, which we all know are actually the main ingredients in Heaven.

Truly, there is nothing healthy here.  No quinoa, no chia seeds…not even a drizzle of espresso for you fancy pants out there.  Just lots of  yummy no-good stuff that makes people happy.

How to Assemble Cool & Creamy Oreo Parfaits

-Before making this recipe, set your butter and cream cheese out to warm up to room temp for easy mixing.

-Whisk your milk and pudding mix together and chill for 30 minutes until it firms up. Gently fold in Cool Whip and set aside in the fridge.

-In your stand mixer (or with a hand mixer) beat butter, cream cheese and vanilla on medium speed until smooth. This is when room temp butter and cream cheese are essential. If they’re too cold, you’ll have giant chunks of butter and cream cheese in what should be a smooth mixture. Nobody wants that!

-Slowly add powdered sugar and beat on medium speed for one minute, until smooth. Fold cream cheese mixture into pudding mixture with a rubber spatula until combined.

-Start layering your parfaits. I start with Oreo cookie crumbs, then layer the pudding on top of that and repeat, finishing with another sprinkle of cookie crumbs on top.

This dessert makes a lot.  You can make it in a very large bowl or trifle dish, or serve it up in individual jars if you want to be all cutesy.  I’ve never tried it in a 9×13, but I am not sure it is deep enough, so definitely go for a trifle dish.  It’s easily halved, so if you need a smaller portion, just half the recipe on your phone calculator.  That’s what it’s for.

Not that I ever half recipes on my calculator, because I’m smart enough to do it in my brain like a smart person who is good at math.

Not.

Enjoy!

Haha I totally feel your guilt. It’s horrible–I make this fancy dessert, and everyone goes “meh”; then I turn around make something with lots of pudding mix and cool whip and stuff (just like this!) and I have crowds fawning at my feet. :D But there is no shame in enjoying these types of things every once in a while, they are the ingredients of heaven indeed :)

Zooey Deschanel. LOVE her. Check out her video on YouTube singing “What are you doing New Year’s Eve.” She’ll win your heart. I first saw her in the worst movie ever — The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. LOVED the book, but the movie, horrid. * * * * I won’t even bother with the Cool Whip and pudding*, it would be perfect with Strauss Family or Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. * * * *Has anyone noticed that the Jello pudding mix is now .5 oz smaller? My favorite cake mix, Duncan Hines, is now 2 oz. less than before. I checked out the Duncan Hines website when my Bacardi Rum Cake didn’t rise as high as it normally did. Grrrrr. I now add 2 tablespoons or 1/4 cup of sifted AP flour. Works great. p.s. The Pioneer Woman has the Rum Cake recipe on her website. She calls it “My Mother-in-law’s Christmas Rum Cake”. I’ve been making this cake since the 1960s. Ree’s version calls for more rum and butter in it — Yeah!

CORRECTION: I said “2 Tablespoons” when I meant 2 oz. I have a scale — if you don’t just add 1/4 cup sifted AP flour.

This looks Fantastic and I know my hubby will absolutely love this. He likes anything that is sweet , cool and refreshing.
I think to instead of using the vanilla pudding I will go for the Oreo pudding………double your pleasure double your fun with Oreos. :}Who doesn’t like Oreo’s.
Person could even probably use butterscotch pudding and using nutter butter cookies or other combinations.
I might just try making something with a mint cookie.
    Possibilities are endless

Yes, let’s talk about New Girl! Love it. My sister and I live hundreds of miles apart, so we can’t watch it together but we always send each other funny quotes from each episode. It is a very quoteable (is that word?) show, especially Schmidt’s character. The season just ended and I already miss it. After a long day with the twins, a funny show is the perfect 30 minute mommmy time! Um, also, I need that dessert in my belly right now. :) There should be a law where you get free desserts delivered to you if you are a mom of multiples.

I so feel ya on New Girl. Everyone likes it but me. I mean, I watch it, but I just haven’t completely bought Zooey’s character. But the bangs keep me watching.

Yes to this recipe. A thousand times yes. Sometimes I make something fancy from scratch for my niece and nephews, and all they want is this. I’ll make this next time for ’em :)

thoroughly confused by this – you don’t cook the pudding? how does it thicken without cooking it before it goes in the frig? why use cool whip when it’s sooooo easy to make fresh whip cream? also confused how this picture shows white pudding when vanilla pudding is always a yellow. i made this mistake of making this and threw it out. it was beyond disgusting. box vanilla pudding whip cream and butter don’t mix well flavor wise. and the tall mason jar was tooooooo much of a dessert.

I made this for my daughters graduation party and it was absolutely amazing!!! (Yes, we could have made home made whipped cream…but we didn’t have time for that with a giant party to plan.) I actually used cheesecake pudding instead of vanilla and this was the FIRST thing to go at the party – I had so many people come up and tell me how amazing it was!! We will definitely make this again, thanks so much!!!! I preferred this recipe over others that had chocolate pudding and/or eggs in it. We also made ours with glutino gluten free cookie sandwiches so that myself and my daughter could enjoy the dessert.
