It’s only September and here I am, all up in yo grill with Halloweenie treats.
I’m just as bad as Walmart or Target, with their bags of candy corn right by the front door.
And don’t get me STARTED on Hobby Lobby. Christmas wreaths?? REALLY?
The thing is though, is that thinking of food ideas is hard on a blogger. Because there are eleventy trillion and seven food bloggers nowadays, and they’re all coming up with super awesome stuff, and if I put off all my ideas then someone else will do it first and I will go cry.

Anyways, so let’s pretend that I’m not majorly jumping the gun on Halloween, and talk about how cute and easy these Candy Corn Push-Up Pops are, mmmkay?
This was my first go around with the Push-Up Pop trend, and I loved how they turned out. It’s SUCH an easy way to make your treats stand out, and they’re great for parties because they’re so easily portable.
I just used a white cake mix, prepared the batter according to directions and divided in half into bowls. Each half should be about 2 cups.
One bowl I dyed orange and one yellow, then I poured the batter into greased and floured 10 inch round baking pans and baked for 10 minutes or so.
You can totally use a smaller pans, but keep in mid that your cake will be a lot thicker, and these work better with thinner slices of cake.
Let the cakes cool in the pans for a few minutes, then remove to cooling racks and cool to room temperature. Then place cakes in the freezer for about 20 minutes — this makes them easier to cut.
Using a push pop, cut circles of cake and layer in your push-up pops, alternating with coordinating frosting. You can use dyed canned frosting, or my recipe, which I am sharing below.
One cake mix and the following frosting recipe makes about 20 push-up pops.

Buttercream Frosting Recipe
- 3 sticks salted butter, slightly softened
- 5 TBS milk
- 3 teaspoons vanilla
- 6 cups powdered sugar
1. In the bowl of a mixer, beat butter, milk and vanilla on medium low speed until smooth and combined. With the mixer on low, slowly add powdered sugar and continue mixing on low until the powdered sugar is just combined. Increase speed to medium high and beat for about a minute, until light and fluffy.
2. Divide into thirds and dye one third orange and one third yellow.
**Makes enough for about 20 push-up pops
