Lucy turned SEVEN months old this week. How is that possible?
The last few months have been full of milestones.
Lucy rode on her first airplane and stayed in a hotel!!
She and I had such a great time on our trip to Austin. She’ll never remember it, but it was a really great bonding experience for me. Something about navigating a new place alone with an infant that makes you feel closer. Bonus — we got to share a bed, which we never do at home.
Don’t tell my husband, but I secretly LOOOOVED it.
She has also started eating lots of baby food!!
At first, she didn’t like it much, but now she leans into the spoon and says, “MMMMM” after every bite.
She can sit up on her own, but not for long, and she’s wobbly. This is definitely the age where we have started watching her closely — she rolls everywhere and puts everything she can reach in her mouth.
Poor Jon David has had to deal with constant lectures (from us and the pediatrician) about leaving small toys on the floor. He’s such a good sport about it, though.
He really loves his sister and has so much patience with her…even when she’s not happy.
Seriously. This says it all.
Don’t they look so much alike? Her little face is like going back in time for me!!
Lucy still gets super excited when her dad comes home from work.
She kicks her feet, shakes her head from side to side, and buries her face in my shoulder. You’d think she was shy, but those kicking feet tells you she is HAPPY!!
She loves to look at people and try to talk, and her personality is really shining through. She’s such a happy and content kid, and gets tons of attention as a result.
With Jon David, I was much younger and worried about doing everything “right”. This go around, I just want to enjoy the experience because I realize how quickly it passes, and that honestly, it doesn’t really matter. At the end of the day, we can’t tell which kids we held too much or which were fed in the middle of the night instead of trained to sleep through it…she will grow up fine, I am certain of that.
I know that the rest of the year will be full of milestones.
Lucy already has four teeth, so new foods aren’t far off!! Crawling, pulling up, and first words are right around the corner too.
In anticipation of her first words, I talk to her as much as possible. Bath, Bottle, Eat, Brother, and Daddy are words I tell her often.
But mostly Mama. I say Mama A LOT. Ha!!
I couldn’t help but include this picture of her sneezing.
Lucy and Jon David inherited my sneezes…which are loud, frequent, and instead of pairs, come in sixes and sevens. It’s embarrassing, honestly.
Happy Seven Months, Lucy Goose. You have blessed all of our lives and made me a better woman. We love you!!!!
