Red Velvet Peppermint Blossom Cookies
You know those kind of recipes that require very little effort, but give you great results?
This is one of those kind.
Honestly, getting anything baked nowadays is a miracle. I don’t know how some people make this whole baby thing look so easy — is there a brand of baby that never cries and changes their own diapers that no one has told me about?? If I have time to wash my hair and fold a load of laundry, I consider my day a huge success, let’s just leave it at that.
Anyways — these cookies.
They’re so easy, so yummy, and the recipe makes a bunch of cookies. They look great on a holiday cookie plate, too, so even new baby mamas can win at Christmas!!
These are so good and so festive. I love them!!Red Velvet Peppermint Blossom Cookies
INGREDIENTS
- 1 box red velvet cake mix
- 8 oz (1 block) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 bag white chocolate peppermint Hershey Kisses, unwrapped
INSTRUCTIONS
1. In the bowl of a mixer, beat butter and cream cheese on medium speed until well combined. Add egg and vanilla and beat. Add cake mix and beat until combined. Chill dough for 2 hours (or longer if you get busy or your baby is crying a lot).
2. Preheat oven to 350. Scoop cookie dough with a 1 inch cookie scoop and roll in powdered sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake for 11 minutes. Remove from oven and press a Hershey Kiss in the center of each cookie. Remove cookies to wire rack to finish cooling.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies

Enjoy and have a very happy Monday!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I realize you could be doing more important things with your time. Like watching the news or washing socks. I hope you stay awhile. Much more fun than socks, I promise.

I need to find some of those peppermint kisses. YUM!
i have never seen those hershey’s kisses before. have i not been paying attention to chocolate candy? that’s impossible! i have been looking for another cookie recipe other than my ‘decorating sugar cookies’ thing i do every year with my kids. this may be it!
Dude..my kids are 7 and 9 and I still cant manage to wash my hair…sigh.
These cookies are so festive and yummy looking. I would gladly make these instead of bathing. Priorities, you know?
Oh what a WONDERFUL recipe. I love this!
Those look amazing! I’m planning to make some red velvet cookies this week too! Love how pretty and festive they are. Those kisses are a great touch!
the candycane hershey kisses are my favorite!
Ugh. I was planning on making some fancy cookie with those Kisses too, but my husband got ahold of my stash and ate them all. I shall punch his face now. And then go to the store for more, because yes. I need these in my life.
I am trying to make these, but I have to be missing something. I see vanilla in the ingredients, but I don’t see it in the instructions. What am I missing? Help please.
Just add it in with the egg. I’ll amend the instructions…thanks!! :)
Great, easy recipe. Anything red velvet and cream cheese is amazing. Love the addition of peppermint!
I can’t wait to try this recipe. I just made some cookies over the weekend using a cake mix and was really surprised because the dough tasted like cake mix but the baked cookies tasted like they were made from scratch. They were delicious!
Love those kisses! I am all for super easy desserts for Christmas, there is always too much going on.
I am soooo digging these. Yum!
I will be making these for sure.
Is anyone aware if a good cream cheese
alternative? I have a dairy free child and
she will be disappointed. (she can have the small
amount in the candy).
Yes! Try Tofutti brand Better Than Cream Cheese. I don’t much care for it as a spread, but it’s fabulous for cooking and baking, and also works great for cream cheese icing! (Tofutti’s Sour Supreme, by the way, is a wonderful alternative for sour cream in cooking/baking as well.)
Yay for using cake mixes to make things a whole lot faster and easier! Especially when you just spent all your energy the last 9 months baking up a baby! :)
LOVE these! Made some tonight they turned out fantastic! Thanks for the easy peasy recipe :)
@Sue have you tried Tofutti Better Than Cream Cheese it doesn’t have dairy and it tastes pretty much like the real thing.
These look really impressive. I can’t believe how simple they are. Yep all babies are different, I had a terror and then a little angel. However the terror baby is a most wonderful toddler and the second is getting rather typically naughty in the toddler stakes. I think its swings and roundabouts. They are all a blessing.
@Sue. I know vegan cream cheese is made and it would be dairy free. I don’t know how well it would work but it might be worth a try. It can be hard to find but sometimes a place like Whole Foods or specialty grocery stores carry it. If she can have butter, there are versions of this online that only use butter. Good luck.
Confession: I’ve never made red velvet anything. I’ve always thought that the idea of putting less chocolate in something was sacrilege.
You’ve made me a convert, though, because I’m dying to try these cookies. I love how they look all frosty on the outside.
