This Week!!

Hey guys!!

Things are a little slow moving around here this week.

Jon David had a stomach bug for a couple of days, and I am officially 37 Weeks pregnant tomorrow!!  My doctor says that it is safe to go anytime after that — I’m hoping for 38 weeks, but we will see what happens.

Had my last ultrasound this week and got a couple of cute (although squished) photos:

I’ve got my hospital bags packed and all of her stuff ready for her, now I’ve just got to wait and see when she decides to get here!!

I’ve been feeling okay, just lots of back pain and some swelling in my feet, ankles and hands.  I’ve been trying to take the last couple of weeks slow and rest when I need to, but sometimes it’s hard because it seems like there is so much to be done!!

Sitting down has never been my strong point, but I’m trying to get better at it.

Thankfully, Jon David was finally feeling better by yesterday afternoon, and was able to keep food down and get up and around.  I mentioned that we were doing Trunk or Treat at my church for Halloween this year…

We decided to go as “Trunk Commanders”

The boys are huge Duck Commander and Duck Dynasty fans, so I decided to play along…next year when Lucy is here, she and I will be the bosses of our theme!!

And it may or may not include the color pink.

In other news this week, I am recapping the latest Pop Culture News…

and sharing reviews on Dry Shampoo (my new favorite beauty product!!) on That’s What We Said.

And as a final note, I know it’s been awhile since I’ve had a baby, but I seem to remember a bit of very strong discomfort being involved… so if you wanted to leave a comment reassuring me that it will be painless, it would greatly soothe my frazzled nerves.

Thanks and have a happy Thursday!!

Thanks for reading!! I put lots of love into this post, so if you enjoyed it, please leave a comment, share, or subscribe. (As you can probably tell, I'm in constant need of validation, so this keeps me from questioning my self worth and crying into a box of wine) If, by some chance, you didn't enjoy the post, take it up with my personal zombie ninja.
About Kristan
I’m a proud housewife with a son in the second grade and a sweet baby girl. Like most little boys, my son funny and cute but a little weird. Which only makes me love him more. And the baby? Well...I know she'll sleep eventually. If I could, I would paint my life pink, sprinkle it with glitter, and give everyone a cupcake.

You’ve got this Kristan! But I do have three words I swear by in the birthing process, Epidural, Epidural, Epidural! ! So excited to see your little Princess!!

I think it all depends on if you go natural, or with an epidural… I went with the meds, and really think I enjoyed the experience more than if I hadn’t. Well, as much as you can enjoy pushing out a melon sized baby. Just remember it’s all worth it in the end. :-)

My daughter is now 9 years old, and I can assure you that I am no longer in any pain from her actual birth! ;)
Good luck with everything! Daughters bring with them lots (LOTS!!) of drama, so keep your sense of humor and that will help.

I just had a baby 9 weeks ago and all that ‘oh you forget everything’ hasn’t really sunk in yet. I agree with Cody on the epidural! Best decision I’ve ever made. If you’re able to do it without it I’m sure it’s incredibly empowering but I just wasn’t able to do it! Good luck and I can’t wait to see Lucy’s precious face!

I decided to go child-free many years ago so I have NO CLUE what I’m talking about. But you did it before and I have no doubt you can do it again! All will be well. Put those feet up and let those boys re-learn how to spoil a lady. Take care!

I, personally, had very easy labors all three times. The pushed for 15 minutes and they were there.

I hearby decree that this gift is now passed on to you.

Good luck! Let me know if it worked!

I hoped to go the all-natural path with my daughter, but it was not meant to be. Let me just say, if you don’t have any issues with epidurals, by all means, GET ONE. Once I didn’t really have a choice, I have to admit I was able to relax and BREATHE. The one thing I can absolutely vouch for is that once she was here, I could have cared less what had happened in the previous 19 hours. It was a euphoria that I’d never experienced. No matter what happens in that window of time, once you’ve got her in your arms, you won’t give a lick what it took to get her here. You’re in my prayers to have a smooth, quick and healthy delivery and that you and Miss Lucy are snuggling and bonding as quickly as possible. I hope Jon David and Dad are ready to hand their hearts over to this little girl.

so… you want us to lie to you? LOL!
My daughter was the biggest blessing in my life and if I had to do it all over again, I would easily accept the pain 10 times over. She recently got married and I could not put into words how proud I am of her.

    Enjoy your blessing!

I just had a baby 11 weeks ago with no epi and it wasn’t that bad. As soon as I laid eyes on my sweet boy all pain was gone. :)

Aw so exciting! I had my daughter 11 weeks ago :) I tried to get an epidural, but it didn’t take. However, even doing it drug-free was completely fine. As soon as you get to see and hold your gorgeous little girl, the pain almost seems to melt away :) You’ve got this!

I just had to weigh in on the epidural…

I have 4 kids and I had an epidural with 2 of them. I can honestly tell you that both labor and the recovery were much faster without the epidural.

I had 2 and no epidural with either so I can’t compare the recovery time, but I am glad I went without! So, basically I’m just agreeing with you! If you can manage without go for it!! Is what I say!

I too vote for the epidural…..

I ended up having an unexpected c-section but it didn’t bother me too much; I even went back to work (with baby and breast pump in tow) 8 days after having my son. Pain from the c-section….not so much. Pain from/with breastfeeding……eeekkk! That’s what got me!

Can’t wait for Lucy to be here and we are looking forward to many many postings full of pink, glitter and tutus : )

Well, my kiddo is 5 now, so it’s been awhile for me, too…but I do know that once the moment is here, the only thing you will care about is getting Lucy here healthy and safe. I think that as moms, we’re able to put our physical pain aside and think of nothing else but that little baby. You’ll do great!

You totally got this woman! Just remember our bodies were made to do this and yes, she will eventually come out :) I’ve had 3 babies, one with epidural and two without. I also agree that recovery was so so so much better without the epidural (I swear I could’ve had sex the next day, no lie. Not that I wanted to or would ever tell the hubby! “6 weeks at least honey, I just had a 9lb 2oz baby for you!”) but i don’t judge so do whatever you want. Either way you’ll have a sweet little one that is totally worth it! Sending strong woman vibes and prayers for a fast, smooth, safe labor. Hugs!

I can’t believe while reading this morning that your little darling will be here very soon.
It seems like you were just sharing news with us that she was going to join your family, and now she is almost here. I know for you it has been a long stretch. I just have to tell you how much i enjoy your blog, I start out every morning by reading you first, because you always bring a smile to my face. I love your halloween outfit. I also am a huge Dynasty fan, and you two could join right in with the rest of the clan. I hope your birth is painless, comfortable and peaceful. There is no more beautiful thing in the world, then watching your little one enter the world. i wish you and your family great blessings and all the happiness in the world at this amazing time.
P.S. I know we will miss your updates, when you are too busy to post.
But always remember we are all here for you!

Well, of course, it will be pain-free. At least, years from now you will be telling your kids/or kids spouses that it was. I am not a good person to talk about this though. My labors were so fast that for the second one, the doctor missed the fun.

I’ve never given birth before, but after watching “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” I learned that sneezing is the least painful way to help push the baby out. So that’s my advice for you!
Also, I only found you a few weeks ago, but I have to say, congratulations and you’re super cute!

OK I have had 3 kids, and I finally learned with #3. As I was walking past the nurse’s station on the way to my LDR room, i told them they could go ahead and call the anistesiologist (whatever, the pain doctor!), I was already ready for my epidural. Epidural is the best invention ever- you should not have to be in pain. Natural I am sure is great too, but after 23 hours of labor I know I would not have had the strength or patience. Good luck to you! and remember there is no bad decision, we are all different should respect each other’s decisions on birthing, feed, mothering!

Congrats! I’m 37 weeks as well! I am going to try and go with no epi, we’ll see! I’ve been told many times you can do it with no epi, just listen to your doctor, nurses and it can all be done through breathing. Good luck!

I gave birth three times with no drugs, 21 years later I have forgotten the pain. Is that helpful? lol
Seriously, you’ll do great and look at what you get in the end!
    Congratulations and good luck.
