Pregnancy Update!!

tag : Baby

This is going to be my last pregnancy update!!

Although the photo says 38 Weeks, we took it last weekend, so I am now closer to 39 Weeks.  Not sure when Lucy is going to decide to show herself, but I am confident that it will be sometime next week.  Hopefully before Thanksgiving!!

Everything at the house is ready.  Her bassinet is set up, her clothes are folded and hung neatly, and I’ve got a big ol’ stockpile of diapers just waiting for a tiny butt to wrap around ;).

I decided to go to a local restaurant and order our Thanksgiving dinner for this year, so we can just have a low key meal at home.  Normally I spend the day before Thanksgiving cooking like crazy — cakes, pies, casseroles…I love Thanksgiving and always want everything to be absolutely perfect.  But one thing this pregnancy has made me realize is that sometimes you have to give up control and take things easy.  Our Thanksgiving will be quiet, simple, and probably eaten on paper plates, but I have no doubt that I will remember this meal more than any other so far.

Other than some lower back pain and mild cramping, I feel mostly okay.  A little uncomfortable obviously, but it could definitely be worse.  I am so thankful that I’ve had no serious issues and haven’t had to spend any time on bed rest.  As far as pregnancy goes, I’ve had it about as comfortable as you can ask for.

My main ailment right now is a case of the nerves.

I fluctuate between excitement, fear, and wanting to punch people in the face.  HI, HORMONES!!!!!!

I’ve spent a good deal of time talking things over with Jon David and making sure he understands that I will be in the hospital for a couple of days, that it could happen at any time, and when I come home we will have a little sister.  He seems very excited, so I am hopeful that it will be an easy transition.  Although the due date is interfering with Thanksgiving, I am thankful that he will be out of school so we can spend time together as a family.

I have received so many gifts and well wishes and cards in the mail…many from people I don’t know and have never even met.  I am struggling to catch up on Thank You cards, but if you haven’t heard from me, please know that I am beyond grateful and appreciative.  I have been blessed more than I could ever imagine, and you are all in my thoughts every day as I give thanks.

I do have posts lined up for next week and the weeks following.  Some are mine, and some are guest posts from some really great blog friends who are kind enough to help a mama out.

Hopefully I will have baby photos for you VERY SOON!!!

Thank you again for everything.  Have a very happy Thursday!!

Thanks for reading!! I put lots of love into this post, so if you enjoyed it, please leave a comment, share, or subscribe. (As you can probably tell, I'm in constant need of validation, so this keeps me from questioning my self worth and crying into a box of wine) If, by some chance, you didn't enjoy the post, take it up with my personal zombie ninja.
About Kristan
I’m a proud housewife with a son in the second grade and a sweet baby girl. Like most little boys, my son funny and cute but a little weird. Which only makes me love him more. And the baby? Well...I know she'll sleep eventually. If I could, I would paint my life pink, sprinkle it with glitter, and give everyone a cupcake.

I am so excited for you! I keep jumping back and forth between you and Deborah at Taste and Tell to see if anyone of you is in labor. And I’m next, my due date is Dec. 21st! Can we say Hello and Goodbye to Mayan Calendar and just pray that they are wrong and that the end of the world does not mess up my birthing plans, lol! Best of luck to you! You look beautiful and not at all 38-39 weekish pregnant! I cant wait to see pics of your little baby girl :)

My baby girl, who is almost 3 now, came on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving in ’09. Hubby ran to the in-laws and grabbed me a Thanksgiving dinner because I was NOT getting out! Ha! But it was definitely special! :)

You are the cutest pregnant last ever, and I can’t wait to see pictures of that sweet baby girl. :)

I am fighting back tears. The blessing of a baby does that to me. Our boys are close in age and when you share with us about yours, he is so much like my boy. I so wanted another baby but it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’m sending you a huge hug, good vibes and my best wishes for an easy labor.

Okay, I’m out of lurk-dom for this. You look fantastic!

I think doing a restaurant dinner on paper plates is a fabulous idea: I was pregnant on Thanksgiving last year – was about 39 weeks on the day, so I feel you!

We planned nothing, and I ended up having to go to the hospital on turkey day anyway for a (scheduled) non stress test because my doc office was closed and they wouldn’t allow me to skip/postpone it.

On the way home – we called in to two friends’ houses and had dessert with them. It was wonderful!

Will be thinking of you over the next few weeks – hope it all goes well, and can’t wait to see the photos of your little Lucy. Your son is going to be a wonderful big brother, and will be a big help for you. It’s a special time!

My oldest daughter was born the day after Thanksgiving. She was kind enough to let us enjoy our dinner before entering the world. I did a ton of baking that week. I couldn’t help myself. This year, 25 years later, she’s cooking her first Thanksgiving meal and we’re going to her house.
I wish you the same peaceful and sweet week and birth that we enjoyed.
