Pregnancy Update 21 – 22 Weeks
Hey guys!!
I haven’t done an update in awhile, and I’m actually going to be 23 Weeks pregnant at the end of this week, so I thought I’d squeeze this in before I get too behind.
Everything is going great. I am tired sometimes, and definitely starting to feel uncomfortable. But I’m growing steadily and gaining around a pound a week, so that is a good thing.
Lucy kicks constantly. For the last month, I’ve only felt her when I was sitting or laying down, but lately I have felt her while I was up and moving. That tells me she is growing and getting stronger, which makes me really really happy.
I’ve got less than 4 months left. And while that sounds like a long time, I know it will be here before I know it. I’ve started making lists of everything I need because besides preparing for baby, I need to get Christmas shopping taken care of before she is here. The last thing I want is a newborn, Christmas 4 weeks away, and nothing ready. So I’m trying to get myself organized now.
There are so many baby products out there, it’s a little overwhelming. I probably spent hours and hours just figuring out what car seat to buy. A reader recommended this book to me, and it has been a huge help in deciding what I really NEED, and what is the best as far as safety, consumer reviews, and price.
And for the record, I went with a Chicco Keyfit 30 in Grey. I am going gender neutral on big items, so they will be easier to give away, sell, or reuse (if my husband gets his way. But he won’t. No more kids, husband, I mean it this time!! Probably). I bought the car seat on Albee Baby, and with the 15% off promo they are running, it was $35 cheaper than at Target or on Amazon.
So if you’re in the market for a new kid, keep that site in mind for sure!!
I finally sat down today and did my baby registry on Amazon.com. When I was pregnant with Jon David, online shopping was big, but not nearly as big as it is now, so I’m hoping this makes it easier on friends and family, and on me too, so I can keep track of what I need and purchase off of the list for myself.
Also, it will keep me from having to carry that scanner thing around Target while people stare. Have I mentioned that I’m a hermit?
OH!! Another thing — I am going with a mini crib for baby Lucy, so I went on Etsy looking for affordable custom bedding to fit the dimensions. And I found a really great girl with very reasonable prices. If you are in the market for crib bedding, I really suggest checking her out. Her prices are the best I’ve found so far, and she is making me an adorable black and white damask set with pink trim and matching curtains.
And I’ve officially grounded myself from buying baby clothes. Seriously, it’s a real addiction. Only, no one was intervening on my behalf, so I had to do it myself.
Anyways, that is about it for now. I have another appointment in 2 weeks and look forward to seeing how things are going. Thanks so much for all the kind emails and support, it is so very appreciated!!
Happy Wednesday!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I realize you could be doing more important things with your time. Like watching the news or washing socks. I hope you stay awhile. Much more fun than socks, I promise.

So glad everything is going so well! Baby anything is addicting!!! Whenever my friends have babies, I lavish them with gifts. Everything is too adorable!
Yes. Tiny dresses are way cuter than normal sized dresses. It’s just a fact.
OOOO WOW!!! yeap you are right those 4 months are going to fly by, and before you know it sweet little Lucy is going to be with you.
She is soooo lucky to have you as her mommy :), she is going to be in so much style and have great taste in clothes :)
I was wondering, are you going to create a baby registry so we (your fans) can send little Lucy a little present???
Please dont get me wrong, hehehehe. It’s because we all love you and your blog sooo much, that I would love to send her something. You have made me laugh so many times and your recipes are SOOOOOO good :)
HI Su!!
Thank you so much, I am so glad you enjoy the recipes!! My amazon registry is publicly accessible, http://www.amazon.com/registry/baby/1237Z0AZMRRW9 which has mainly the basics.
I certainly just appreciate all the blessings and kind words though, that is gift enough for me!!
Love your jeans in the picture! Are they maternity jeans? And where did you get them??
Hi Kerry!!
They are maternity jean capris (but long capris) that I got at Maternity Motherhood…the brand is Jet Set Jeans. They are comfortable and fit really great…they don’t make my butt look saggy. Yay!! I highly recommend.
I know everyone is focused on little Lucy right now – and I’m so glad your pregnancy is going well – but let me just say that I think your little man, Jon David, is absolutely adorable in this post’s pic. He’s such a little cutie. It makes me miss my son being that age. He’s 23 now, and for some reason doesn’t snuggle up on the couch with me anymore! :) Cherish every moment with them at this age. It goes by in the blink of an eye!!
Hi Rebecca
Thank you :)
Yes, Jon David is adorable and has the funnest personality ever. He is so imaginative, funny, and thoughtful, and I really am cherishing the time we have together before Lucy is here. Even though I know she will be a blessing to us, I hope he always looks back on his first 8 years with happy memories of the two of us. He has taught me how to be a mom and how much I LOVE being a mom, and I will always be grateful for that!!
I had to shop for a friend’s baby shower and they were having a girl. I can TOTALLY understand how you’re addicted to baby girl shopping–the stuff is SO STINKING CUTE. Mini dresses, cute towel wrap things (seriously, why don’t adults have hooded animal towel robes? Lame) and all the adorable pastel-y stuff. And the shoes! Don’t even get me started on the shoes. I know you aren’t anxious for Little Lucy to grow up, but I really can’t wait to see your adorable tea parties with her and whatnot. Too cute! Congrats, Kristan!
Your blog always puts a smile on my face, thanks.
looking good! BTW even old men ( like my DH) like to shop for baby clothes ! Especially girl stuff!
So happy for you! I’m doing the same thing, my baby is due 4 days before Christmas so I’m trying to get Christmas done early and plan up freezer meals for a month or so. Lots of preparing to do!
You’re such a cute pregnant lady! I’m only 8 weeks along but hope to look as good as you by 23 weeks. I’ve been addicted to searching baby stuff online and have blown quite a few hours to that task! I hope the rest of your pregnancy goes as well and love the expressions on Jon David’s face every time you post an update!
Thank you so much and best wishes to you!! I know you will be glad to be out of the first trimester :)
Both you and your son are so adorable! I wish I had looked as cute as you when I was pregnant! I’m so glad you got the Chicco Keyfit 30. Best. Car seat. Ever. We actually got the travel system, and I cannot say enough good about it.
I’m so glad your pregnancy is going well! Thanks for the updates. It’s so fun to hear how little Lucy is doing :)
I am so glad to hear that you love the car seat!! I really looked for a long time…there are so many options, it’s hard!! I looked at the travel set, but decided to just purchase the Chicco stroller frame that the car seat snaps in to…it had great reviews and when Lucy gets bigger and I know more about what I will need, I’ll look into something bigger.
Oh, my goodness – I have loved seeing the expressions on your little guy’s face in these pictures! I can’t wait to see them all in a collage after Lucy is born! She will treasure them when she gets older, too, I bet. I have an only child who is 6 and I’m PRETTY sure she’s going to be it. But, I see you had a change of heart after 8 years, so who knows, right? I looked like a beached whale when I was preggo so I have very few pics during that time. I regret that for my daughter’s sake! Thanks for keeping us updated! Love to hear everything is going well!
I swear you are the cutest pregnant person ever! And, Jon David-that kid makes me smile every time I see his picture! As an Auntie to 4 nieces and 4 nephews, I understand how easy it is to get sucked in to buying cute little girly things! My oldest niece spent the night a few weeks ago and went through my jewerly box. She said to me . “Aunt Krissy you have soooo many diamnds! ” ( it’s all costume except for my wedding ring.) She then proceeded to tell me that I should buy her diamonds for Christmas-she thought that would be a great Christmas gift! LOL!
I love your update posts. So happy for you guys. And I love seeing what baby gear decisions other people make so that hopefully when it’s my turn I can just benefit from everyone else’s hard research work :)
So glad everything is going well! I feel your pain when it comes to an addition to shopping for baby clothes! Oh, and we can’t forget Jon David..to cute!(:
I know exactly what you mean about shopping for little girl clothes and I don’t even HAVE a little girl!! The first 3 grandchildren in my family were boys (including my 3 year old son) and my sister just had the first granddaughter in March! (all 4 are March babies, too! :)) I was so excited to have a boy because I really do love all the little man clothing, but shopping for a girl really is SO much more fun! I have already bought her so many clothes, it’s pretty ridiculous. My sister loves it though, because that means she doesn’t have to go shopping when little Sophie poops through all over the clothes she has, haha!
So cool! I will have to check out Albee Baby. I haven’t heard of that site. All I know is I spent a good solid two days wavering between Chico and Graco…so hard to decide.
Oh!!! Can’t wait to see the nursery!!
You look great!!! Amazon is definitely the way to go for a baby registry these days, makes it so much easier for everyone. I’m so glad I went gender neutral with all my baby gear, definitely made it easier to get rid of. Your son is such a doll!!!
Glad to hear you and baby Lucy are still doing well :)
We have the Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat and love it! Good choice! :)
I wish I was that cute when I was pregnant! I can’t imagine having to buy all that stuff again. It has changed so much in the last 7 years!
Thanks, Erin!! And yes it has…although it’s nice to do so much shopping online, there are sooooo many products, it’s confusing for sure!!
Just recently discovered your blog, love love love it. Such great humor in your posts, and such a joy to read and see all of your wonderful recipes!
Oooh, baby girl clothes are esPECially addicting! And I`m due about a week before you – good call on getting ready for Christmas in advance, that hadn`t even crossed my mind!
You look fantastic! I LOVE Albee baby! They have the greatest deals on that website! I did my stroller shopping there. I have an 11 year old son and two girls 5 and 3. When I had my second girl I was lost in the baby world because it had changed so much in 6 years and the fact I went from boy to girl didn’t help either. I bought so much useless junk with my first like a wet wipe warmer that I always forgot to refill. Yep I learned quick the second and third go around what NOT to buy. Well, clothes were a definite struggle and still are oh and shoes….damn shoes!!
You are too cute! I love the name too!
Yep, that’s the thing about fall babies, hot blazing summer when you’re super preggo. Although, you will probably fair better than I did just because I don’t expect you to gain 50lbs (doughnuts were my weakness). Oh, there’s a site where you can link all your registries if you have more than one and people came shop from there http://www.myregistry.com
So cool!! Thank you :)
I love these updates! Jon David always look so ADORABLE & you, SO PRETTY!
Glad to know that everything is going great! :)
you look great! Don’t ground yourself from buying baby clothes!!! Just buy the next sizes up! You can get lots of great clearance stuff, save a ton of money, all while getting your shopping fix!
You look great!
Just have to say… You are so pretty, and your son is adorable. Best wishes to you, your hubby, your son, and baby!!!!
