Twinkie Pie

The recipe I’m sharing today is the type of recipe that gets me hate mail.

You know…because it’s full of chemicals and Cool Whip (which apparently is manufactured by the devil or something) and Twinkies, which can survive the zombie apocalypse.

But you should know that I do super horrible things all the time. Glopping a bunch of yumminess on a pile of Twinkies is really nothing in comparison to my usual shenanigans.  Last week, the Nielsen Rating people sent me an envelope with $5 and a TV diary for the week.

I kept the money and didn’t fill out the diary.

In my defense, there wasn’t really instructions for sending the money back.  Plus, they wanted me to account for every hour of television for every day for an ENTIRE WEEK.

For $5?!

I cannot even get two boxes of Girl Scout cookies for $5.

Also, I think that using me as a Nielsen person would be doing America a huge disservice.  My husband mostly watches stuff about Bigfood or panning for gold, and I watch Teen Mom reruns, so what would that be saying about our fine country, hmmm??  It’s probably worth the $5 to just leave me out of it.

Since I’m already going down in fiery Nielsen Money Flames, might as well eat dessert, right?

Twinkie Pie

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 box of Twinkies
  • 2 3.9 oz boxes Instant Vanilla Pudding
  • 3 1/2 cups milk
  • 20 oz can crushed pineapple, drained
  • Cool Whip, cherries, and sprinkles for garnish

Instructions

1.  In a large bowl, whisk together both packages of pudding mix and milk for 2 minutes.  Place bowl in the refrigerator to set.

2.  Unwrap Twinkies and split lengthwise.  Line a 9×13 pan with the Twinkies, cream side up.  There should be exactly enough to line the entire pan.

3.  Remove pudding from refrigerator and spread over Twinkies.  Top with drained pineapple.  Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours.

4.  Serve topped with Cool Whip, sprinkles and a cherry.

This is a really great potluck dessert, give it a whirl.

Enjoy and have a happy Wednesday!!

Thanks for reading!! I put lots of love into this post, so if you enjoyed it, please leave a comment, share, or subscribe. (As you can probably tell, I'm in constant need of validation, so this keeps me from questioning my self worth and crying into a box of wine) If, by some chance, you didn't enjoy the post, take it up with my personal zombie ninja.
About Kristan
I’m a proud housewife with a son in the second grade and a sweet baby girl. Like most little boys, my son funny and cute but a little weird. Which only makes me love him more. And the baby? Well...I know she'll sleep eventually. If I could, I would paint my life pink, sprinkle it with glitter, and give everyone a cupcake.

    You are so flippin’ funny!

I am ADDICTED to Gold Rush!! I would be a horrible Nielsen source too… House Hunters, Storage Wars, The Young and the Restless, Bold and the Beautiful, oh, and every Housewives show and almost everything else on Bravo TV… By my list, I should be at church confessing my sins each day!

Twinkie pie… That’s not bad at all!

Much love and thanks for the beautiful photos and the inspiration you are to me and to all of your readers!

Just tonight at the grocery store I lingered by the Twinkies and thought about how good they would be covered in more gooey goodness then, I come home and find you. Tomorrow I’m gonna eat this! Thank you for understanding our need for ooey gooey every now and then! :)

I have to tell you when I read this post I thought you had been spying on me! Every bit of what you said happened to me this week. It really is too funny! I am keeping the five bucks too and my husband is watching shows about bigfoot and gold mining (he loves them, I have no idea why) and I watch teen mom reruns. The diaries are blank and will stay that way. The only thing I didn’t do is make Twinkie Pie, but the weeks not over yet!

It depends on if the $5 is singles or a solid $5. Right?

OMG, Kristan. You are indeed the Twinkle devil. One who makes my day. I roared with laughter at this post. Roared. Although I don’t consider myself a food snob, I am a seriously picky eater. But it is soooo easy to do this the longer way. Make my own Twinkies using a Duncan Hines yellow mix, or buy Angel Food cake or pound cake at the bakery, use pudding mix, then whip up my own fresh whipped cream, and must, must add the sprinkles and cherry on top. Sounds wonderful, still easy-peasy and as delicious as your version — just not as funny. I would LOVE to serve your version to some food snobs . . . . wait I don’t know any. Oh happy day!

We did that Nielsen survey a few months ago- if you fill it out and send it back then they send you more money!! For each diary! My husband and I each got a “thank-you” check, I should have done one for my daughter, too! p.s.- twinkies are awesome!!

I feel ever since they said Hostess was filing for bankruptcy, it’s like I see “shout outs” for Twinkies in random places. It is sad to me to lose that great company. I laughed in the Chevrolet Super Bowl commercial where it was the end of the earth and the guy had the box of Twinkies. Maybe it’s a joke that Twinkies will be here to the end of the earth – but it was also great product placement.

Your recipe looks great and so easy.

    I sure wish I could get one of those Nielson diaries. They would not even have to send me money. I’m tired of shows I like being cancelled. I’m sure if I could fill one of those out, it would stop that! {Insert a Sheldon laugh here}
