Friday Fun!! Friday Fun!!

What up gnomes, it’s Friday!

This week, lots of stuff happened.

I made food.

I ate food.

I started reading Outlander (so far, it’s just okay but so many of you have raved about it that I’m going to try to keep going).

My kid got sick and we spent eleventy hours doing make-up school work.  Not kidding.

I gave my husband lots of hugs.  I’m just a hugger.  I love hugs.

I celebrated the one week anniversary of my 32nd birthday (which, funnily enough, my ENTIRE FAMILY failed to recognize.  No present, no cake..NOTHING!!  Birthday anniversaries are real, people.  Get used to it).

And I spent a good part of the week pouting because my friend Shelly is going on a cruise.  Which means that she won’t be available for me to text and Skype every time I find something sparkly online that I wanna buy or I’m bored.  So selfish of you Shelly.  Seriously.

But that’s not all!! As always, I managed to produce an unbelievable quantity of high quality content, with robot like precision and economical value.  Wanna see?

(yes, I am aware that the above sentence made no sense.  Just checking to see if you’re really reading or just skimming)

I made Twinkie Tiramisu.  No coffee was involved.  But you want to know what WAS involved?  Yumminess.

I made a Valentines Wreath for my front door.  It’s a daily reminder to my husband that I’m a Valentiney Person, and we will be celebrating appropriately.  *cough* FLOWERS and CHOCOLATES  *cough*

I baked up one of the easiest and most delicious cakes in all of creation.  Also, I made sure that my husband can afford a diamond casket in case of my untimely demise.  Priorities!!

I pitted Josh Duhamel and Josh Lucas against each other in a battle of hotness.  Click here to get your vote in!!

I’m also having a fun giveaway, click HERE to enter.  It just takes a second!!

Well…I guess that’s about it.  I mean, I did go to Scotland to capture footage of the Loch Ness Monster, but who wants to hear about that?  Totally boring.

What did you do this week?

Have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend.  Thanks for reading!!

Thanks for reading!! I put lots of love into this post, so if you enjoyed it, please leave a comment, share, or subscribe. (As you can probably tell, I'm in constant need of validation, so this keeps me from questioning my self worth and crying into a box of wine) If, by some chance, you didn't enjoy the post, take it up with my personal zombie ninja.
About Kristan
I’m a proud housewife with a son in the second grade and a sweet baby girl. Like most little boys, my son funny and cute but a little weird. Which only makes me love him more. And the baby? Well...I know she'll sleep eventually. If I could, I would paint my life pink, sprinkle it with glitter, and give everyone a cupcake.

Outlander is fantastic!! The entire time I read it I kept envisioning Jamie as Owen Hunt from Greys Anatomy. Made the book even better ;)

The Outlander series is worth sticking with, amazing books! (It won’t come up for a couple of books yet, but the word Hedgehog never fails to make me fall over laughing now…)
I am finally caught up with you now, I followed a link here several days ago, and started at the beginning, and kind of just did nothing but read your yummy recipes and wonderful stories. I loved every minute! (Although, when I went into the kitchen yesterday with a stack of printed out recipes I had collected to try my husband looked at me suspiciously and asked where my lap top was, he wasn’t use to seeing me without the light from the screen:P!!) And now I am off to the fabric store, I NEED the tutu wreath immediately!!!

My mom and I are going to try to make the tulle wreath tomorrow and I’m pretty excited. I haven’t gotten crafty in quite some time, so wish me luck! We are having a snowstorm here right now so a little pop of color on the door will be really welcome! Thanks for posting it and giving my mom and I something fun to do together on her visit!

OMG!!! I love the Outlander books, you must keep reading Jamie and Clare’s love story is one of the best. I have read all the books 3 times. Buy the way I love your site, you always make me giggle. If I hadn’t just started trying to lose weight I would so make your Toasted Marshmallow Cake, that looks to die for.

I’m such a huggy person too, and my boyfriend dies because of the hugs. I need a hug in the morning, in the evening, before he goes to work, when he comes home, when he makes dinner, when I make dinner, pretty much any reason. :)

    Look away Outlander fans.

*whisper* I finished the first book and never went back to read the second one. So don’t feel bad if it isn’t your cup of tea either! *whisper*

Also, I’m trying to eat better but that hot fudge marshmallow cake is trying to come home with me. Can’t handle it!

This week I pinned your toasted marshmallow hot fudge cake to pinterest which, thank you very much now I do nothing with my days except pin. I don’t make anything because I might miss some totally amazing pins. I also got to stay home from work yesterday because school was closed for snow. I made cinnamon rolls that require no yeast for brunch yesterday since I didn’t have to work. And I officially started following you on Pinterest today. You asked…

I read a lot of series and the Outlander series still remains my favorite. It starts slow in the first 1/3 of the first book, most people are hooked.

Someone commented in an Amazon forum that Chris Hemsworth would be perfect to play Jamie. Seems like a good fit for me. I really wish they could make that series into movies – like they did with Harry Potter. A movie for each book in the series.

Definitely try to push through Outlander. It does go a little slow in the beginning, but that is because you need a little background info. I really think you will love the series after the first book. I had to go right out and purchase the second book as soon as I finished the first, because I HAD to know what happened. The fifth book was a little hard for me to get through, but it was worth it. If you end up falling in love with the Outlander series, consider reading the accompanying Lord John novels (they aren’t the best, but kind of fun to read) Also, I think I saw something on your facebook about the Stephanie Plum novels–They are really good too! The first one has a pretty ugly scene, but that is the worst one (I think, I haven’t read the most recent one yet.). Happy Reading!

Funny you’d mention skimming when I was just thinking to myself, “Self, you are looking for a specific recipe, stop reading all the posts you’ve been meaning to catch up on. YOU HAVE THINGS TO DO!” I was like, “but self, i can’t SKIM! Who does that?!” So there, p.s. that wreath is beautiful! When I make a tutu that looks like it I will post it on your FB page.
