Paris Birthday Party Cupcakes

You guys are a tricky bunch, you know it?

Since posting the Nerf Cupcakes (which followed up the Tangled Cupcakes) I’ve gotten several more cupcake requests.  And seriously, you know I can’t say no.  I mean…. I guess I could but man, is it hard.  Saying no to nice email people seems like a personal invitation to Bad Karma.

So, I guess I am sort of becoming the DJ of cupcakes nowadays.

Not DJ on Full House (Deej) who had that creepy friend Kimmy (I did NOT like her)  but like a cool DJ at a club that takes song requests and spins records and keeps the party going.

You guys ARE dancing and shakin’ it up while you read my blog…  RIGHT?

(But not that creepy kind of dancing where you sneak up behind someone and start shaking your groove thang in their personal space because that is just plain gross).

These particular cupcakes are for a reader who is throwing her daughter a Paris themed party for her 16th birthday.  And as much as I loved the Paris-themed idea, it was kind of hard to think up good cupcakes.  When I think of Paris, I mainly think of the Eiffel Tower, champagne, and cigarettes.  And Dylan cheating on Brenda with Kelly

Beverly Hills 90210 with cigarette and champagne cupcakes? For a Sweet 16?  Um….

Let’s not talk about the fact that instead of the wonderful food and scenery, my mind immediately goes to cigarettes, booze, and trash TV from the 90s.  I didn’t choose my brain, okay?  Welcome to my life.

Anyways–I started thinking and realized that Paris also makes me think curly mustaches…and glamour.  Lots of the Paris decor I see for girl’s rooms has some type of make-up on it, so I decided to fit that in somehow too.  I chose a hot pink, black and white motif, but that could easily be changed to suit your party colors.

I made a couple batches of my buttercream, divided it up and tinted it black, white and hot pink.  I piped it on the cupcakes with a jumbo open star tip (for the black and white) and a jumbo round tip (for the pink).

The mustaches were super easy.  I used THIS mustache mold from Amazon.com and some melted candy melts.  I made some black mustaches and decided to add some pink ones just for fun, and they ended up being my favorite!!

Guess what the lipsticks are made from?  The same black/pink candy melts I used for the mustaches and…Pirouette cookies!!  I had a bunch left from when I made the Nerf cupcakes and they were PERFECT.  Just cut them at an angle (saw gently with a serrated knife) and dip in the melted pink candy.  Once set, dip the bottom half in the black candy.  Done.

I then dipped some small, square cookies in the melted candy melts and once set, piped on Eiffel Towers with a round tip #2 and black frosting.

If piping isn’t your thing, you could totally write on the squares with black food marker.  Americolors do wonderfully on candy melts/almond bark, just like drawing with a regular marker. Instead of piping a border, you could edge it in sprinkles.

Of course, you don’t have to do ALL of these for a Paris Par-tay, (slacker) but even one of two of the ideas would make for a super cute dessert display.

I had a lot of fun with these!! So pink and pretty.

Thanks so much for reading and for sending all your fun ideas!!  I promise to do what I can, but sometimes it’s difficult due to time constraints, materials, etc.  But truly I appreciate you reading and your comments and support, so I am happy to be able to give you ideas and hopefully be a part of your celebrations.

Thanks so very much for reading.  Have a fabulous Thursday!!

Thanks for reading!! I put lots of love into this post, so if you enjoyed it, please leave a comment, share, or subscribe. (As you can probably tell, I'm in constant need of validation, so this keeps me from questioning my self worth and crying into a box of wine) If, by some chance, you didn't enjoy the post, take it up with my personal zombie ninja.
About Kristan
I’m a proud housewife with a son in the second grade and a sweet baby girl. Like most little boys, my son funny and cute but a little weird. Which only makes me love him more. And the baby? Well...I know she'll sleep eventually. If I could, I would paint my life pink, sprinkle it with glitter, and give everyone a cupcake.

Great assortment of cupcakes and very smart of you to think to use the pirouette cookies to make the lipstick tubes!

I LOVE these! I have never been to France, but I seem to love all things French-themed for some reason, especially in pink/black. The pink mustache is perfect:)

Another suggestion for your emailer would be to put a picture of the Eiffel tower under wax paper, and with the candy melts trace the picture. Put in freezer for a minute to harden, then VERY carefully take it off of the wax paper and stand it up in the buttercream!

Also, how do you get your blakc buttercream so BLACK? I can just never get it to be quite so perfect. *sigh*

Brenda was no angel on that trip to Paris either… she was seeing that guy Reeek and faking a horrible French Accent. But yeah, I’d have NO idea what to do for a French Party either. My mind instantly goes to poodles. I love the lipsticks!
