Paris Birthday Party Cupcakes
You guys are a tricky bunch, you know it?
Since posting the Nerf Cupcakes (which followed up the Tangled Cupcakes) I’ve gotten several more cupcake requests. And seriously, you know I can’t say no. I mean…. I guess I could but man, is it hard. Saying no to nice email people seems like a personal invitation to Bad Karma.
So, I guess I am sort of becoming the DJ of cupcakes nowadays.
Not DJ on Full House (Deej) who had that creepy friend Kimmy (I did NOT like her) but like a cool DJ at a club that takes song requests and spins records and keeps the party going.
You guys ARE dancing and shakin’ it up while you read my blog… RIGHT?
(But not that creepy kind of dancing where you sneak up behind someone and start shaking your groove thang in their personal space because that is just plain gross).
These particular cupcakes are for a reader who is throwing her daughter a Paris themed party for her 16th birthday. And as much as I loved the Paris-themed idea, it was kind of hard to think up good cupcakes. When I think of Paris, I mainly think of the Eiffel Tower, champagne, and cigarettes. And Dylan cheating on Brenda with Kelly
Beverly Hills 90210 with cigarette and champagne cupcakes? For a Sweet 16? Um….
Let’s not talk about the fact that instead of the wonderful food and scenery, my mind immediately goes to cigarettes, booze, and trash TV from the 90s. I didn’t choose my brain, okay? Welcome to my life.
Anyways–I started thinking and realized that Paris also makes me think curly mustaches…and glamour. Lots of the Paris decor I see for girl’s rooms has some type of make-up on it, so I decided to fit that in somehow too. I chose a hot pink, black and white motif, but that could easily be changed to suit your party colors.
I made a couple batches of my buttercream, divided it up and tinted it black, white and hot pink. I piped it on the cupcakes with a jumbo open star tip (for the black and white) and a jumbo round tip (for the pink).
The mustaches were super easy. I used THIS mustache mold from Amazon.com and some melted candy melts. I made some black mustaches and decided to add some pink ones just for fun, and they ended up being my favorite!!
Guess what the lipsticks are made from? The same black/pink candy melts I used for the mustaches and…Pirouette cookies!! I had a bunch left from when I made the Nerf cupcakes and they were PERFECT. Just cut them at an angle (saw gently with a serrated knife) and dip in the melted pink candy. Once set, dip the bottom half in the black candy. Done.
I then dipped some small, square cookies in the melted candy melts and once set, piped on Eiffel Towers with a round tip #2 and black frosting.
If piping isn’t your thing, you could totally write on the squares with black food marker. Americolors do wonderfully on candy melts/almond bark, just like drawing with a regular marker. Instead of piping a border, you could edge it in sprinkles.
Of course, you don’t have to do ALL of these for a Paris Par-tay, (slacker) but even one of two of the ideas would make for a super cute dessert display.
I had a lot of fun with these!! So pink and pretty.
Thanks so much for reading and for sending all your fun ideas!! I promise to do what I can, but sometimes it’s difficult due to time constraints, materials, etc. But truly I appreciate you reading and your comments and support, so I am happy to be able to give you ideas and hopefully be a part of your celebrations.
Thanks so very much for reading. Have a fabulous Thursday!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I realize you could be doing more important things with your time. Like watching the news or washing socks. I hope you stay awhile. Much more fun than socks, I promise.

EWE..there is a mustache on your cupcake ;)
bahahahahaha :)
Cutie, cute, cute. Very clever.
Love it! :)
How fun! I also think of poodles and purses and high heels. Oh… and art! {cause I’m classy, ya know!} What a lucky 16 year old girl for her birthday!
I always love anything Paris themed, and these are so cute and creative! The pink mustaches are so cute!
Oh my, this is by far one of my favorites created by your lovely self.
Sooo pretty, your talent is immense. I think this really speaks to me.
You are inspiring, :)
Looks pretty tricksy. You get props for making them and being crafty about it. And props for always having a new interesting topic. It’s always pretty hilarious :-)
So much fun!
Cupcakes with manly facial hair?!?! Reminds me of my dad in the 80′s!! Thinking of that I might make him some mostache cakes for his birthday… why not?
Really cute cupcakes :-)
love them. i want to have a paris party. to cute. (:
The mustache one is my favorite. So funny!
They turned out so cute! Love the pink mustache, even though you know how I feel about them altogether…
and I was not a Kimmy fan either..she was just. too. much.
Wow, those are le magnifique! I think I’m gonna throw my own Paris party just to have an excuse to make the lipsticks!!
Great assortment of cupcakes and very smart of you to think to use the pirouette cookies to make the lipstick tubes!
This is adorable!!! I’m sad though, no story today about John David! :)
I love all of your creations and your new blog! Have a great Thursday too!!
Love the mustache one! Ok, I love them all:)
I love the pick mustaches! Only YOU, Kristan, would make PINK mustaches!!! Adorable assortment!
I ADORE these!!! So cute!!!
How adorable! It definitely catches the Paris theme! I don’t comment very often (usually just for giveaways), but I had to comment on this one! You are so talented it’s crazy! Everything you make turns out adorable.
So my dad still has a mustache just like that…..anyway Love the Full House and BH90210 references! Two my my favorite shows! I use to make my dad record Full House on the VCR (yes those old things!) so I wouldnt miss it! Haha good memories.
I LOVE these! I have never been to France, but I seem to love all things French-themed for some reason, especially in pink/black. The pink mustache is perfect:)
Another suggestion for your emailer would be to put a picture of the Eiffel tower under wax paper, and with the candy melts trace the picture. Put in freezer for a minute to harden, then VERY carefully take it off of the wax paper and stand it up in the buttercream!
I totally thought of that too, but I was worried about breakage. I bet they’d be super cute though!!
these are AWESOME! Perfectly Paris :) I am loving your creative cupcakes series.
So Cute!! You did a great job!!
so pretty and pink. I love how you reference all the old good tv shows like 90210 and Punky Brewster. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in my love of 80′s/90′s tv.
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! (am not screaming at you by the way, heheheh)
I was just overwhelmed by cuteness and passed out on the floor. Send help. Send sugar! ;)
you are hilarious! I lost it when i read this part
“But not that creepy kind of dancing where you sneak up behind someone and start shaking your groove thang in their personal space because that is just plain gross).
I totally pictured someone doing that!!!! ahah thank you ! I so needed the laugh…got 4 toddlers under the age of 4 asking for something every 3 minutes…so this little break of laughter was greatly appreciated :)
You are so amazingly talented. Truly just leaves me smiling each time I read your posts.
You are such a great artist! all the decorations are great!
It was fun to read your vision of my country :-D
Quel talent !! You’re amazing ! I really love your work !
And it’s fun to see that even with such a big distance between us, we watched the same TV shows !
Au plaisir de te lire,
Maelwyne (fom France … Nantes)
I have a friend who has a serious thing about moustaches – and cupcakes, but boys are like that – and I think I need to make these for him!
Also, how do you get your blakc buttercream so BLACK? I can just never get it to be quite so perfect. *sigh*
These ar too fun!! Love them.
Way cute and so creative!!! Amazing, Kristan!
Slacker….hahahaha!
Brenda was no angel on that trip to Paris either… she was seeing that guy Reeek and faking a horrible French Accent. But yeah, I’d have NO idea what to do for a French Party either. My mind instantly goes to poodles. I love the lipsticks!
