Guest Post–Sweet Sugarbelle and Sparkly Cookies!!

Hey guys!!

You might remember me telling you that I was spending a few days in New Orleans.  Well, what I DIDN’T tell you was that while I am gone, one of the World’s Awesomest Cookie Decorators is guest posting on my site.  And she made cookies about ME!!
How cool is that?

I’m assuming you already read Callye’s blog The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle, so you already know how funny, sweet, and insanely talented she is.  And not only are we internet friends, but we have met in real life too!!

From left to right:  Glory from Glorious Treats, Me, and Callye from The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle.

She’s so much fun to be around, and always ready to help a friend, and I’m so glad that we were able to meet through our blogs and become friends.  Thanks so much for posting in my absence, Callye!!

*****************************************

I’m glad to be here visiting one of my favorite bloggers and bloggy friends { we’ll talk about you posting the WORST PICTURE OF ME EVER later}.

Anywho, when Kristan first invited me to guest post, I wasn’t sure what kind of cookies to make for the Cookbook Queen. I mean, crowns are OLD news, and all of the other old standbys just weren’t worthy.

Then, all at once it hit me.  What better cookie to make for the Cookbook Queen, than a COOKBOOK queen!  Are y’all following me?

To make this easy I chose a tulip cutter  since I know that not everyone has over a thousand cookie cutters like I do.

Oh yes, and just in case you don’t want to make a ton of Kristan cookies {although  don’t know WHY you wouldn’t}, this idea also works well for little girl princess cookies.

To decorate these cute little Cookbook Queen Cookies you will need:

  • fleshtone twenty-second icing {for help with fleshtones, click HERE}
  • piping and flood icing in blonde {I mixed egg yellow, ivory, and warm brown}
  • pink, light blue and black piping icing
  • black food color marker
  • pink and purple petal OR luster dust

When I make people into cookies, I always begin with the neck.  I mean, what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t give Kristan a neck?  That’s almost as bad as giving someone TWO chins! When you finish, let it set up for ten minutes or so.

Next use the fleshtone 20-second icing to add a face.  When that’s done, use  blonde icing to add a hair outline.  I used a #3 tip for this to give the hair a little more “lift” than the face.  It’s a dimensional thing…

Fill in the hair outline and let the cookies dry for 6-8 hours {overnight is good}.

After the face has dried, it is time to add the pretty stuff.  First use the food color marker to CAREFULLY add eyelashes. Next, add a nose, lips, and crown.

Before you freak out, let me show you a little trick for piping a prefect crown, or anything, for that matter.

When you are re-creating a complicated piping design, ALWAYS work in stages.  Add one section at a time until you have piped the entire design.  I did it for you below…

See?  That wasn’t so bad right?  Next, use the black icing to add eyeballs.  Also, be a pal and add EYEBROWS.  Those are pretty important, ya know…

I finished” Kristan the cookie” up with something EVERY Cookbook Queen needs, whether she’s a cookie or not…MAKEUP.  I used luster dust as purple eyeshadow, which is definitely “IN” this season, and pretty pink cheeks.  I also gave her a little hairdo with the blonde piping icing and a small icing tip.

After the details were dry, I brushed her with a little pearl dust.  She’s not lying when she says she sparkles.  I’ve seen it with my own eyes.  When she stands in the sun, she is glittery all over.

And that’s it! That’s all you need to make a perfectly perfect Cookbook Queen cookie.

Well, ALMOST…

What would a Cookbook Queen be without all her favorite things, like sparkly nail polish, cupcakes, some trash TV, and of course, FRUIT SNACKS!!!

Oh yes, and I also made her something else.  Most of the time where there’s a Kristan, there’s a Shelly nearby, so, I made her too!  When you get these to together, it’s always a ton of fun.  So much, in fact, it requires it’s own website.

If you haven’t already, you should go check out their new site, That’s What We Said. It has everything you need to feel all girly and super-mom-y at the same time!

And after that, you should swing by my place, The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle, and say hi to me too!  I’m not QUITE as funny, but I can make a MEAN sugar cookie!

Thanks again, K for letting me take over your place!  I hope you like yourself as a cookie!

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Thanks for reading!! I put lots of love into this post, so if you enjoyed it, please leave a comment, share, or subscribe. (As you can probably tell, I'm in constant need of validation, so this keeps me from questioning my self worth and crying into a box of wine) If, by some chance, you didn't enjoy the post, take it up with my personal zombie ninja.
About Kristan
I’m a proud housewife with a son in the second grade and a sweet baby girl. Like most little boys, my son funny and cute but a little weird. Which only makes me love him more. And the baby? Well...I know she'll sleep eventually. If I could, I would paint my life pink, sprinkle it with glitter, and give everyone a cupcake.

    Kristan — you make a gorgeous cookie!! And Callye — you are so ridiculously talented. I love your stack of cookbooks too! What I want to know….will these cookies be eaten? And by who? And is that going to be weird for anyone? I mean, you can’t eat yourself. And eating your best friend is almost as bad…
