Cupcake Milkshake
I finally saw the last Harry Potter movie the other night.
I think I cried at least seventeen times while I was watching it.
And then when it was over and we got home I was all wanting to talk about how special it was and how my heart was hurting but my husband was all, “I’m confused…wasn’t that EXACTLY the same as the LAST Harry Potter movie we saw?”
And I was like, “seriously, you aren’t even human. It was a cinematic masterpiece. I will be completely devastated for at least the next hundred years. It’s OVER. OVER!!”
Then my husband did that thing where he pretends to listen to me but I can tell that he really isn’t. He’s probably thinking about survival skills, or tool boxes or whatever section of the brain men retreat to when they don’t know how to deal with a COMPLETELY REASONABLE WOMAN.
I realize that Harry Potter and all that magic wizardey stuff isn’t for everyone, but as a mom, I can assure you that magic really does have it’s place in life.
Just ask my son, who thinks that a wizard lives in our fax machine and the ATM works by scanning your fingertips to see how cool you are and awards money accordingly.
Seriously, so convenient. I mean…try explaining money and electronic debits and how paper information is scanned and travels by wire to a 6 year old.
Or me, for that matter because honestly I still don’t understand it
.
Magic is such a simpler way of explaining things. Funner too.
Anyways, right now, I really wish I WAS magic because America is on fire. Like, the hot kind of fire. It’s 108 here and completely miserable.
Soooo….I made milkshakes. Want one?
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup milk
2 TBS funfetti or plain white cake mix
1/4 cup canned vanilla frosting
1 cup vanilla ice cream
Sprinkles and whipped cream, for garnish
Layer ingredients in your blender as listed above (minus the sprinkles and whipped cream). Blend until frothy and well mixed. Pour into a glass and garnish with whipped cream and sprinkles.
Makes 1 large or 2 small shakes.
Want to make the cute little cupcakes to go on top? They are super easy and require NO baking!! You can find the tutorial HERE on a previous post.
If you need me, I’ll be in the corner crying and mourning the end of the Harry Potter series.
But on a good note, I have a new celebrity crush–Neville Longbottom!! Who knew?!
Have a wonderful Monday full of Magic and Milkshakes!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I realize you could be doing more important things with your time. Like watching the news or washing socks. I hope you stay awhile. Much more fun than socks, I promise.

Oh my goodness….those are the cutest milkshakes EVER!!! You.Are.Genius!
I still haven’t seen the last Harry Potter. If I don’t go, it’s not over, right? Right?

I’m so terribly conflicted about Neville! I watched these kids grow up – how wrong is it that I think he is totally hot? :D
I am SO glad someone finally feels the same way I do about the last Harry Potter!! My sister in law went with me, and just stared at me like I was an idiot for crying!! My husband wouldn’t even see it with me because he said it would be the same as the last one!!
Those milk shakes look divine! Thanks for sharing!
These are absolutely adorable! My son would go nuts if he saw them!

Love your humor. I am a huge Harry Potter freak, and I completely understand. Some people just don’t get it. I went the Friday night after it opened, and the people behind me laughed every time someone important died. They just sat and talked about how stupid the movie was. That was the closest that I have come to having to whoop up on somebody in a theater. Respect the Harry Potter!
This recipe looks fantastic. One trip to the grocery store and I am all over these.
Love HP, love the movie, sad that it’s all over! And seriously, Neville Longbottom = Hottie McHotterson. True story!
I can’t believe Harry is over! It was a very good ending! My kids can’t wait for it to come out on dvd now, so they can watch it like a million times:-) We usually just throw day old cupcakes into our milkshake. This version will be perfect when there are no cupcakes on the counter! Lovin’ the mini “cupcakes”! You got real talent girl!!!

Genius. Pure genius.
I couldn’t accept the end so am rereading the books and watching the movies as I finish each book. It’s not really helping.
Harry Potter will live on in our souls forever.

I feel the same way about Harry Potter. I can’t believe it over, but at least my son and I are reading the series together right now…We’re only on book 4 so I guess that’ll have to sustain me until Pottermore.com is up and running ;)

I would love one of these shakes- YUM, I’ll have to try them this weekend.
I’m with you on Harry Potter. I’ve spent the last 10 years waiting for the movie, and the last five months or so tearing up anytime I heard/saw a trailer or commercial. I was holding back tears while my best friends and I were waiting in line for the 12:01 show. I still cried pretty much from the beginning to the end, because you’re right. It’s OVER. Now what am I supposed to look forward to?
Those milkshakes look fab!!! The cupcake toppers just bring them to a whole new level. You are a genius. <3
We NEED these right now! YUM!!

Seriously :)
I’m not a huge vanilla fan, have you experimented with any other cake/ice cream/frosting flavors? I’m curious….
No!! But I bet chocolate ice cream/frosting/cake mix would be amazing!!
My husband is the same way about Harry Potter! He refuses to read any of the books because he says they make people “weird,” but watches all of the movies multiple times & always asks me to fill in the bits they don’t have time to fully explain. Oh, & he also has this weird theory about how if he were Voldemort he would horcrux the moon so that people had to decide whether they wanted to kill him or keep the tides & all those other moon-dependent things. THEN he tells me I’m lame for getting so attached to the characters. Pa-shaw, that’s what I say to that. (Still haven’t seen the final film because we just moved to a new city & don’t know anyone who can babysit.)
Catherine @ Make Myself at Home recently posted..Award-winning (!!!) peach-strawberry cobbler.
Is it weird that I’m strangely impressed by his moon theory?
But seriously–totally on your side. I mean, if the man wants the details, he needs to do the work and read the books ;)
Mmmm, I’m a funfetti-aholic, these will be made by me, no doubt!

These look great, though for some reason I can’t see the pictures on this page. I had to click on them to see them. I love it how cute they look, no kid will be able to keep their hands of that. Actually no adult can keep their hands of that. :)

(not putting any spoilers ;) I agree, Matthew Lewis (who plays Neville Longbottom) is so, so, so, so, so hot! ;) Love your blog! ?
* didn’t realize I added the extra question mark…
108?! Geez Louise. (Actually I used a four letter word — and I NEVER swear — just keeping it clean for your readers.) I live in San Francisco and will never move because I’m deathly afraid of weather. I was in Las Vegas recently where it was 106 degrees F. I only walked from my air-conditioned car to the lobby of the air-conditioned hotel (20 steps?) and almost died. When I inhaled it was the same as inhaling oven air. How do people do it? What happens if the electricity stops? Please, move to San Francisco where when it hits 80 degrees F I always have a milk shake for dinner. Because 80 degrees F is soooo unbelievably hot.
You’re writing is magical. Only recently discovered your beautiful blog and am enjoying grazing through your past entries. You’re so great at giving links to where you buy so many of the things you use when baking. Love to see links to the pretty spoons, etc. Thank you so much!

Okay well maybe it’s because I didn’t want to share and maybe because I also knew I’d probably have to! Anyhoosely, this was the very first recipe I made off of your blog and it was the best milkshake I have ever had. I made some for the kids too and they also gobbled them up and have been asking for another since then. Thank you so much for sharing!
