Pot of Gold Cupcakes

pot of gold

When you’re the mom who can make cool snacks, everyone assumes that you’re one of those people who really has their life in order.

I can assure you, that is not the case.

Not with me, anyways.

All these fun treats are meant to distract from the fact that I have no clue what is going on.

I think it usually works.

So let’s pretend that I definitely didn’t lose my $40 camera battery charger this morning, my house ISN’T a huge mess from tearing it apart looking for said charger, and I haven’t been planning on just ironing my son’s karate uniform pants instead of washing them for his pictures this afternoon.

I’m pretty sure that if they’re nice and unwrinkly, it will make them look clean.

I do that with jeans sometimes.

Kidding–of course I don’t!!

Okay. I do.

Stop judging.

Wanna know how to make these easy peasy St. Patrick’s Day cupcakes?

pot of gold 2

I cut some inexpensive wooden skewers in half, inserted them in  donut holes, and dipped in melted candy. I used dark chocolate candy melts, colored with black candy coloring (I usually buy my candy coloring at Hobby Lobby or Michaels).

Stick the skewers in a block of styrofoam or floral foam and while wet, attach a cut piece of black licorice and yellow mini M&M’s. Make sure the M&M’s don’t all lay flat–you want some of them standing up to give dimension.

Once set, stick skewers in cupcakes frosted with green frosting. I sprinkled my frosting with these pretty green sugar pearls.

If you need a good frosting recipe, click HERE for the tutorial on the butter cream I always use.

For cute cupcake liners, sprinkles, and gel food coloring, check out Sweet! Baking Supply. She has tons of cute stuff and shipping is always fast.

Just remember–Febreeze is a busy mom’s best friend.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous day!!

Thanks for reading!! I put lots of love into this post, so if you enjoyed it, please leave a comment, share, or subscribe. About Kristan
I’m a proud housewife with a son in the second grade and a sweet baby girl. Like most little boys, my son funny and cute but a little weird. Which only makes me love him more. And the baby? Well...I know she'll sleep eventually. If I could, I would paint my life pink, sprinkle it with glitter, and give everyone a cupcake.

Totally adorable. I don't iron. But I do spray with that downy wrinkle releaser instead of washing sometimes. So I won't judge.

And don't blow my image of you. I just know those karate pants are washed and starched!

Excellent, as usual. You come up with the coolest ideas. (The ironing is a hot idea. We have to do whatever works, right?)

OMG! Way too cute! Hey, at least you iron. My method of ironing consisting of "shaking out the wrinkles". I've apparently passed it down to my two year old, as she "shakes" her shirts when she gets a hold of them.

My house is in a disaster state, I wasn't looking for a charger though. A 2 year old amd a 10 month old are great fodder for my blog though, so I bake around them. Mine don't look half as nice so I envy you! :) These are beautiful and I can't wait to see more!

No judging here, I sometimes use the ironing trick too, or when I'm really lazy things just get thrown in the dryer for a bit. Such a brilliant cupcake idea, they look amazing.
