- Since there is only me, my husband, and my three year old, almost every night is a family night. We play the Wii together a lot. Also, we love to go to the park in the summer. Once a month my son and I go and pick up daddy at work for a lunch date. This last month we went to Subway and then to the museum at the university (my husband works at the university). It was a lot of fun. I know family night will get harder as my boy gets older, so we enjoy a lot of them now.
A few confessions:
I very rarely enjoy playing games. Board games, card games, and video games included.
I have, on occasion, told my son that a game was “missing pieces” as an excuse to not play it with him.
I have told my son I would watch a movie with him, only to sit next to him and sneak texts to my friends/Tweet/Facebook/read a magazine or book.
As important as love of books is to me, there have been times that I turned down a request from my son for a story because I was too busy, my throat hurt, or he chose the longest boringest book ever and really, why can’t we just read Where the Wild Things Are? Short, fun, and interesting pictures.
I am not proud of any of these facts. Honestly, they go against everything I think I stand for as a mom. But as much as I want to be perfect and fun and drop everything for Candy Land, a story and a snuggle, or Toy Story (AGAIN??), life sometimes gets in the way.
And every now and again, I’m just plain selfish. I’m human.
One thing I’ve learned though, is that my time is the most important gift I can give my son. And in order to give that to him, I need to schedule it. Set aside an hour, an afternoon, or even ten minutes in the evening for my kid.
I mean…his hair smells good and he’s pretty cute. So I’d say he’s definitely worth my time.
Plus, he knows karate. And I don’t.
In light of all this, when Orville Redenbacher’s contacted me about providing me with everything I needed for a family night, I was all about it. It was the perfect opportunity for me to set aside an entire evening to spend time with my son and husband.
The awesome people at Orville Redenbacher’s provided me with:

Thanks for visiting my blog! I realize you could be doing more important things with your time. Like watching the news or washing socks. I hope you stay awhile. Much more fun than socks, I promise.

I think my last family night was actually more of a family dinner gathering with my parents for my mom's birthday a few weeks ago. It's always so much fun to gather the family around the dinner table and just talk & eat for hours!
We try to have family game nights at least once a week and this giveaway would be perfect!! Am I the first to comment??
My husband and I have an 18 month old daughter, so we try to have family night every night. We read books together, play with puzzles, and watch a Brainy Baby episode with her. Rarely an evening goes by where we don't get some good two-on-one time together.
Our last family fun night was last week. We had dinner together and then watched a movie together. It's not very often we get to do this because my husband works night shift. When he is off we try to do things together and have fun. We popped popcorn and laughed together and it was great!

Ours was about a month ago, I'm sad to say.
We need to do them more frequently…
Thanks for the giveaway! :)

Aw, this is such a sweet post.
I haven't had a family night in a very long time… Since I left for college, I feel like my entire family has become so divided. Even my mom, step dad and little brother seem like they never interact with one another, and they live together. It's not that they're mad at each other or anything – they just have their own stuff going on. It makes me kind of sad…
Anyway, on a less sappy note, your son is absolutely adorable and you are my hero for posting that Twister photo (especially twice)!
Love love love your blog.
WOW, what a giveaway! Last family night we had was last night and it was, hubby, kids and myself playing Wii. Ohhhh funnnnnn we had.
Oh man sadly I think ours was christmas eve. We've been meaning to have more but can't all seem to get together.
Our last family night was was in January when my sister came to visit and we all danced to Just Dance II.
Since there is only me, my husband, and my three year old, almost every night is a family night. We play the Wii together a lot. Also, we love to go to the park in the summer. I live in my own, family night usually involves travelling, so it was Christmas Eve, i guess. everyone goes to my parents and we have lobster rolls, pizza and many, many sweets.
I guess you could say I had a family night tonight, i am watching my nephew while his parents are away; we made ice cream pies, and watched a couple of movies!

Our last family "night" was yesterday TBH. We all piled in the Tahoe and hubby drove out along the inlet of Alaska, and we went in search of glaciers, moose, the sun, and anything else we could find. My hubby and kids found a frozen lake where the three of them, and the dog went out and wandered (in the blistering cold mind you) while I stayed in the truck and took pictures. *I can't go walking with them b/c of a work injury* :( But we all had fun yelling out the wildlife we found. The best ones were the three in the car with me :)

Our last "family night" (if you can call it that, since we are engaged, and only have a puppy dog as a kidling) … was last night! or today even! We did tons of spring cleaning and organized our storage. Then we took the cute puppy on a walk and he tried to chase squirrels.
This is our (baby) family :)
I have "liked you on facebook" for a long long time!!!!
What a great giveaway! Our last family night was 2 weeks ago. We (I) made finger foods and the four of us watched Tangled! We try to do it every Saturday night but sometimes, like you said, life gets in the way..
Our last family night was Friday night. My kids like games and puzzles so my daughter decided we should do them at least once a week when daddy was home. Friday nights at our house are "Game & Puzzle Night." If some of us are too tired on Friday night, then we have it sometime over the weekend. Everyone gets to pick either a game or a puzzle. We always have a good time.

I'd like to win!! My last family game night was a few weeks ago, I think the 18th of February. We hung out with some siblings and their one kid with our baby crawling around watching us play Balderdash. We ate pizza, had ice cream,-the works. My little family of 3 (me, husband, 10 month baby) had a full day of errand running then a nice dinner out yesterday, so that was our last family (non-game) night.

Our last family night was tonight!!! My husband works a lot and so anytime together is special for us. We snuggled up on the couch and watched Toy Story (for the bazillionth time) then my husband and I both tucked our 2 yr old in and read a story…..love it:)

The last time we had a family fun night? Oy vey, it has been a while! We do love to do them though, my kids love to bring all their blankets out, eat popcorn surprise (a friend's name for popcorn with goodies thrown into it, like M&Ms and Hershey's Kisses) and watch a movie in the dark. Fun fun!!

We try to get together as a family every Monday night. Last time we got together and watched the newer Parent Trap (my daughter is terrified of movies. She was sure something scary was just around every corner. She also bawled the last five minutes. When I asked her what was wrong she said "I just can't stand it, Mom. It's SOOO Beautiful!")
TOO long ago! I miss family bonding time! In need of one, what a great giveaway!

We have an 8 year old daughter and it was another soggy Sunday here in Washington so today we ordered a movie through On-Demand and made a bag of popcorn and enjoyed a lazy afternoon together.
This past Friday night was spent playing games and a nice dinner out with my grandparents.
It's been a long while since our last family night. Christmas dinner when my family came over maybe? We played cranium after dinner. Our favourites are usually Settlers of Catan and Munchkin.

Our last family game night was last Saturday night. The kids, husband, and I p[layed Guess Who, Go Fish, and Memory, then ate popcorn while watching Strawberry Shortcake cartoons! Such a fun night…and such a fun giveaway! Thanks!
Wow, until I read your question I had completely forgot that my family had decided to do family game night on thursdays. That was about 8 months ago…clearly we aren't doing too well!
This Friday – me, my husband, my BIL and his girlfriend, and my SIL and her fiance all took my 2yo to see the Ringling Bro. Barnum & Bailey Circus for the first time! It was magic.
Everytime I go home to visit my family we have Game Night. Playing cards is a family favorite and I think the last time we did it was a couple weeks ago.
Our last family night was last night!!! (Sat) We watched a basketball game, made dinner, and chatted with our parents and my sister! So fun!
Every other Friday night is Family night. My sister in law and her kids come over and I make dinner. Sometimes we will watch a movie or play a board game.

Our last family game night was actually an afternoon, yesterday!! Our daughter is sick and has to be on oxygen, so we hung out all afternoon and played games, watched movies and her daddy even bought her her very own ben and jerry's tub of fudge brownie. She is a popcorn-a-holic and any excuse to use the computer, so this would be awesome for us!! What a great giveaway, makes me wish I was on twitter :)

For about a year now, we have had "Family Night" every Monday – with something to eat (usually take-out!)and watch TV or play a game. We all work different times in our house and Mondays seemed to work out. Recently, my husband's and daughter's schedules have changed so we are working on finding another day or night for family time.

We have family night once a week. Usually it's a life lesson, game and treat. But last week it was a laundry folding party. Not super fun, but required none the less!!
Our last family night was about a month ago, we all sat down and watched The Legends of the Guardians. We had popcorn, little snack foods, and all curled up together in bean bags with a big ol' blanket. We love family night!

Family night is sometimes a pretty hard thing to do because it seems like everyone is going in so many different directions. Our last family night was a little over a month ago when American Idol started. We all were able to sit down and watch some of the auditions. It was so fun to all be together and be able to enjoy each others company and simply laugh at some of the auditions! And of course there was popcorn!

We try to do family night every Monday and Friday. Monday we do a little lesson and treat and Friday is movie, popcorn and candy night.
Our last family fun night was last week, we went and got FREE Coldstone icecream (through a book drive event), then my hubby bought me two pairs of shoes! I really needed one of them, and the other… well, they were cute, and it was buy one get one 1/2 off :)

We had a family night last night. We went to the mall and got cheap Build-a-Bears and then had dinner in the food court. The kids had a great time! But we usually just have a movie night at home…with popcorn :)
Does it count as a family night even if one very small baby type child goes to bed early? Our baby went to sleep and then the rest of us ate dinner on my bed and watched a movie and then jumped on the couch.
The last family night was a few weeks ago- chips candy and a movie!
My last family night was new years eve with my entire family, mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law, and husband. We played Tripoli until 2 in the morning. It was awesome!

My husband and I generally have a bit of a family night every evening by just spending some quality time together. Saturday night he cooked us a Beouf Bourginon and potatoes gratin, while I made a chocolate mousse for dessert! We love spending family time in the kitchen!
Gosh, I don't do facebook or twitter but I so enjoy receiving Confessions of a Cookbook Queen newsletters.

My family is all split up and living all over the country so our last family fun night was probably Christmas.
Our last family night was last night!! My kids are 2 1/2 & 4 and they saw an episode of Bubble Guppies regarding camping and S'MORES! I have never had a S'more..luckily my husband has…. I DON'T CAMP!! In a cabin yes..in a sleeping bag on the floor with a million bugs and possible snake and bear sightings…NO :) Anyway, knowing I will never take them camping, we had our own camp fire (less the fire) in our living room! They had such a blast but realized they didn't like the traditional smore, but they did like daddy's graham cracker PB & chocolate hybrid :) They had a blast and were cheering all night that they were at a camp fire :) Is was too cute!
Thank you for the opportunity to have many more memorable family nights!!
I also like Orville on Facebook!
Last night the kids and I sat down and colored for about an hour. We def. need to have more family game nights.
Last family gathering was an AYCE sushi buffet :) Have liked you and added your page on FB!
Last night we played Wii bowling. My kids kicked my booty, but I kept going back for more. It was so much fun! Love the pictures!
Our last family night was on Saturday. We try to do it fairly often.
My last family night was last Sunday. It was my birthday and my husband actually put his computer away (!!!!!) to celebrate me instead of his Wolrd of Warcraft addiction. I wish i could say I kicked his butt at Eat It Trivia (best game ever, trivia about junk food!!!) but alas, he got all the easy questions. Seriously…if I had his questions I would've won.
My husband and I both spend quality time with our 18 month old every night even if it's a short time.

Last weekend we had a family night of playing 'Scene It' the movie guessing game on TV and Scrabble.

Ours was a couple of months ago, snuggled up and watched a movie!
Our most recent family night consisted of all of us playing Wii Sports. I was really sore the next day!

Our last family night was about a week ago. We watched WipeOut and had popcorn – fun!
Can't remember my last family game night. But I would love to start a new tradition. =)
Ours was probably about a year or so ago. It's just two of us (husband and I), and most games aren't made with just two people in mind. We always have to bring people in for a "family" fun night. lol.
We have family night every night. For the first hour after my hubby gets home from work theres no t.v., no phones, no computer, nothing but us with our kids doing whatever they want!

I'm not sure we've EVER had a family game night, unless you count putting together dinosaur puzzles with my 3-year-old. In which case, yesterday.
I am a Stay at home mom, so we have movie nights and play games often.

I am lucky that my teenage daughter sets up a "family" night at least once a week. She loves old movies so we are always looking for them on tv or she goes and orders them from the local library. She is such a retro girl and for me it brings back memories of when I was her age and we had just gotten cable in our part of the country. It was my first introduction into the movies ( which were all from the 50's & 60's)!!
Our last family night was two weeks ago! We played board games!

It was last week. We all learned how to play Yatzee together!

This is such a fun giveaway! My family loves to play games together…our last one was on Friday night!
our last family fun night was last weekend with our little grandson. he's only 2 1/2 but we have fun fun fun playing games!
pkeintz@gmail.com
I tend to be like you and rarely like to initiate a game night however we just spent a fun night camping in the backyard. After gooey smores we retreated to the tent and played cranium's Cadoo game. So fun! My 6 year old son had just as much fun as my 11 yr old daughter. I'm impressed with you….Twister is a game that I usually just watch from the sidelines. I tend to volunteer to be the "arrow spinner". My hubby loves it though maybe it's because he's 6'1" a good foot taller than me.
Growing up, we never really had a "game night." I'm an only child, though, and my parents would frequently play games with me in the evenings.
We have cristened most Fridays as Family Fun Night. I make a special dinner & dessert & we either play games (love apples to apples & uno!) or watch a movie on Netflix. It's a GREAT time for us to just be together & not scattered all over the house :) GREAT giveaway & I LOVE your blog…always full of laughter & giggles!! Kim B.
Hi there
We took our son and his wife out to dinner and to a hockey game We all had a great time and laughed!!
Thanks for the opportunity to win
Cheers
Catie
We have a 16 month old so we have family nights every night. Well, not your traditional family night, but we always have family dinner and play time- as much as a 16 month old can handle! I can't wait for family movie nights and game nights when she's a little older. For now, most evenings it's just me and the hubby after my daughter goes to sleep!
We had one last week, what a fun package for any family, but keeping my fingers crossed.
We don't have family nights anymore. When my son and his wife are home they go hide in their room. The only time we have together is when we go to a restaurant. Even if we watch the same show it is on different tv's.

I try to do something family night-like every night with my husband & 13 month old daughter. Whether it's reading books, playing on the floor, giving her a bath – anything that involves the three of us! :)
I LOVE your blog, by the way!!!

our last family night was waaay too long ago. We usually do something like bowling (or wii bowling if i'm feeling particularly antisocial) rather than games. they dont call them "bored" games for nothing.

Our last family game night was two nights ago on a family vacation! I hope I win!
I like you on facebook and I've been meaning to pass the "bad news" along, angry birds is going to soon be a game on facebook. Prepare yourself, and don't tell your hubby!

Oh family game nights….the bickering, the name calling, the long held in grudges only to be lashed out at some unsuspecting moment. Wait, that's not a common game night? Just kidding, sort of. I come from a family of nine so games are frequent and competition is thick. But at the end of it all we have a good time and still love each other :)This package would be awesome for my large clan
We have family night every Saturday night. We have movie and popcorn
breycadina@gmail.com
We do family night about twice a month and usually do board games or have a Wii tournament. It always includes tons of snacks – popcorn, brownies, cookies, etc.
Since it is Spring Break and we are all out of school we had a family night last night. Vietnamese Spring Rolls, spicy coconut soup and The Bachelor. It would be a lot more wholesome with a board game!
Our last family night was a week and a half ago. My daughter did super awesome on her report card, so we took the kids to Rango. She loved it. My two year old lost interest half way through.
Our last family night was on Sunday. My boys turned 1 and 3 over the weekend, and we spent Sunday night racing all of the new Cars at the "Piston Cup"!
our last family night was christmas eve, to long ago. but when you have college & high scool children it gets harder & harder to get the family all together in the same room!
and I liked confessions of a cookbook queen of facebook!
Love the giveaway! As a step-mom we have family time every other weekend when the kids come (so just this past weekend) Friday night we went to a hockey game, Saturday night we made dinner together and had chocolate fondue for dessert. Sunday we had more chocolate fondue and played Wii. I would love to win this giveaway – games +moives+popcorn *swoon* (plus the flip camera) :)
We have game night almost every sunday, so last suday!! Thanks for the chance eto win!

What a fun and yummy giveaway! We walked the Brooklyn Bridge last week!
Our last game night was when my sister came home from CA in January. Pictionary,Trivial Pursuit,Taboo, and of course, Spoons were played. Such a fun night.
Sad to say I think it was last year! We had fun playing UNO!
Our family nights are a big deal. Like a huge deal. My husband is gone a lot for work – like a lot a lot. Last year he was gone for 5 consecutive months. And this year he's already been gone for an entire month. – so when he's home, our family nights are faaaabulous! We sang a little song, said a little prayer, had a little lesson, and then played ring-around-the-rosies with our 2 and 14 month olds. Then we cranked up the music and had a dance party. It was awesome. Like pause the moment of life for a minute awesome.
Thanks for the chance to win something to make our family nights even BETTER!
Now that I'm an adult my mom and I set aside Monday nights as our "family" time. Why? Because it Bachelor night!

Never? Well, that's not true entirely. I do read the kids stories sometimes, or we watch a movie (though I usually bring my laptop.)
But I want to play more games with them as they get older. Course, with a new one on the way, that may take a while. Still, I can WATCH them play Twister, and take video.
Last night was ours, since it's the one night a week everyone's at home for dinner and bedtime, it's a perfect night to do family games. The hit of the night was Toy Story Operation.

Our last family fun night was over Christmas because our dd is in college, so don't get a chance to do things together too often anymore! She's coming home this weekend though, so will have some good family time then.
