A Charlie Brown Cupcake Thanksgiving
I’m going to come right out and admit that I’ve suffered from a major lack of inspiration this Thanksgiving.
When it comes to cupcakes, at least.
I call it Baker’s Block.
It’s just that I hate, hate, hate doing something that’s already been done a million thousand times.
Which doesn’t always leave many options.
So the other night, I started feeling the pressure. It’s almost Thanksgiving….and I have yet to post a single Thanksgiving-themed cupcake.
I racked my brain. And the internet.
Google was not my friend that night.
Pumpkins.
Sigh….really?
Scarecrows.
Been done.
Turkeys?
I was just not feelin’ it.
So I started thinking about what I love during the Thanksgiving season.
And it hit me–A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
Charlie Brown has been a part of my Thanksgiving for as long as I can remember…..and I always look forward to it.
So what I decided to do is post an abbreviated version of A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving….as told by cupcakes.
Shut up, it’s not weird.
I’m an ARTIST, people.
So here it is. My way of sharing what I love with you, and wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Charlie and Sally prepare to go to their Grandmother’s place for Thanksgiving dinner.
While it should probably disturb us that their parents are in no way involved in the preparations, it totally doesn’t.
Peppermint Patty unexpectedly invites herself to Charlie Brown’s house for dinner.
Because Charlie Brown has low self-esteem, he allows himself to be intimidated by such a strong willed woman of….uh…how old are they, anyways?
Charlie Brown realizes that once again, his inability to say no has gotten him in trouble. Worried, he turns to Linus for advice. Linus suggests throwing a dinner for their friends before he heads to his Grandma’s. The only problem is that Charlie Brown can’t cook.
(Seriously, what does his mom do all day?)
They decide to risk major fines for health code violations and have Charlie’s dog, Snoopy, cook dinner.
Snoopy gets to work setting up a ping pong table and chairs in the back yard.
The table was obviously purchased by Charlie and Sally’s parent’s in a thinly veiled attempt to make up for their lack of parenting skills.
Peppermint Patty and the gang show up and everyone sits down and prepares to enjoy a huge Thanksgiving feast. Snoopy begins serving the food he has prepared.
Jellybeans.
Pretzels.
Toast.
Popcorn.
Peppermint Patty becomes enraged at the sight of such a pitiful feast.
She will later learn from Dr. Phil that she was upset at her parents for not making her a Thanksgiving dinner and for letting her wear sandals in cold weather, and she projected that anger onto poor, innocent Charlie Brown.
Because she is a sweet child with good upbringing, Marcie urges Peppermint Patty to apologize.
Okay, actually Marcie is just hungry and wants things patched up so she can go back to eating jellybeans.
Peppermint Patty apologizes.
But between you and me, I’m not really sure she meant it.
The gang realizes that popcorn is much better than green bean casserole anyways, and they enjoy the feast.
In the midst of all the fun, Charlie loses track of time and calls his Grandmother to let her know that he is running late for dinner at her house. His grandmother, being a wise woman who realizes that all these kids are starving and in need of an adult influence, tells Charlie to bring the whole gang.
The gang heads to Thanksgiving dinner at Grandma’s…and all is right with the world.
Thanks so much for stopping by….I hope all of you have a very happy Thanksgiving!!
