“Butterfinger” Owl Pops
I’m gonna come right out and say that I love Google.
It’s the best thing ever.
And I’d know.
I’m what you’d call a Google-er.
I Google everything.
You know those people who meet someone and then they go and Google them?
Totally me.
It’s public information, okay? And as an internet-paying-for citizen of the world, I have a right to be informed.
And I’ll admit that maybe is IS a little tacky, but not as tacky as hanging out with someone and later finding out that they have questionable photos of themselves posted on the web.
And by questionable photos, I’m assuming you know that I mean that the person in said photo is sporting the infamous sandal/wool sock combo.
Which obviously, is a total deal breaker.
I Google song lyrics.
Blinded by the light.
revved up like a deuce
another runner in the night.
I don’t even want to get into what I thought that was before Google came into my life and helped me see things more clearly.
I really can’t believe I ever sang that.
I Google joke punchlines.
My twenty year old brother is constantly amazed that I know the punchline to every single joke he texts me.
He’s all, “You knew that one too?!”
And I’m all, “I’m thirty and thirty year olds are really smart and know almost every joke that exists”.
Is it wrong of me, to steal his punch line joy? Probably.
But the sooner he gets used to the cold, hard ways of the world, the better off he’ll be in the long run.
Obviously, as a food blogger, I also spend a good deal of time Google-ing recipes.
And the other day, I was looking for recipes using candy corn….when I came across a recipe for homemade Butterfinger Bars.
Made from equal parts candy corn and peanut butter.
Totally crazy sounding, I know.
But it WORKS.
Not only does this stuff taste so much like a real Butterfinger that it’s insane, but the texture is also eerily simliar.
Seriously, who thinks of this stuff?!
The original recipe called for pouring the mixture into a pan to cool, cutting it into bars, and dipping in chocolate. I decided to pour these into a lollipop mold instead.
It just seemed like what a cool person would do.
Here’s what you need:
Candy corn. The recipe called for 16 oz, but this is only if you want to make enough to fill a 9×13 pan. I only used one cup.
Peanut butter. Use the same amount as the candy corn. Again, I used one cup.
Sucker mold. These owls were from Bake It Pretty.
Sucker sticks. You can buy them at Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Amazon.com, or Bake It Pretty.
Chocolate Candy Melts. You can also use chocolate bark.
Candy Eyes. One of the best inventions ever. You can buy them at Bake It Pretty.
Melt your chocolate according to package instructions. Spoon a small amount in to each mold and coat evenly with a pastry brush. Place in the freezer for a few minutes to set up.
Meanwhile, pour candy corn in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for one minute. Stir and continue to microwave, stopping it to stir every 15 seconds. Once the candy corn is completely melted, add the peanut butter and stir until smooth.
Place a lollipop stick in each mold and pour candy corn mixture over the set chocolate. Fill just short of the top of the mold and smooth with a spatula. Place mold in the freezer so the mixture can set up.
After about an hour, cover the back of each pop with melted chocolate. Place back in the freezer for about 5 minutes. Remove candy from mold, and put eyes in place using a small dab of melted chocolate.
Using a cup of candy corn and a cup of peanut butter, I had enough to make 12 good sized pops.
No one will even believe you made these. Which will make you feel really cool and awesome.
And that’s all anyone really wants from life, isn’t it?
Happy Monday!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I realize you could be doing more important things with your time. Like watching the news or washing socks. I hope you stay awhile. Much more fun than socks, I promise.

Fine. You won't say it, so I will. Douche! I laugh every time that song comes on! My mom and I were driving around once, and I heard the song, and said "Whoa, whoa… wait. Did he really just say douche?!" we blasted the song to try and figure out what he could be saying *other* than that! Bahaha.
And, did you know that it's not "Bathroom on the Right" by John Fogerty… and that Offspring doesn't sing "Drink your milk!" in Come out and play? ("Hey, man you disrespectin' me? Drink your milk! you gotta keep them seperated.) I always thought he was being pretty demanding about drinking milk.
Now that I've gone on about songs…. those look awesome. I love and miss butterfingers! I miss them because we have nut allergies in the family. Bah!!
so cute! I love how the one of the right has funny eyes! :)
That is crazy! Peanut butter and candy corn? I am so going to feature this on my blog because it is cool, but also because I now feel a kinship with you. I am a TOTAL Google-er. And I am GOOD at it. My husband, who is a very smart man, just doesn't Google things correctly. There is an art to it. I can find just about anything in my first search and I am also super good at finding people. (Although Facebook has taken some of the fun out of that and made it WAY too easy!)
So now I sound completely stalker-ish, but I promise I am not as scary as I sound!
I am going to have to give this a try! Your pops are adorable!
I have to agree with you and the PP Lorie, I am a a master Googler too and my husband isn't either. Must be a woman thing :)
Are those the small molds–2 inches in height?
Squeee – these are GORGEOUS! Nice work!
ps – I love Google too ;)
Oh my!! I am going to have to try that. I love some candy corn.
If you take candy corn and peanuts — mix together in a bowl and eat by the hand full — it tastes like a payday candy bar. :) I must warn you it is addicting.
BTW — I just love your blog and have marked many ideas to try out. :)
This. Is. Amazing. I really want to try it this halloween season – I do have some super cool brain and skull molds . . .
Those are so cute! And candy corn are in them? Weird, it doesn't look like it at all1
That is a weird combo, but they really look great! Joni
you always make such fun recipes!
I google everything. I hate when you think you have a totally original idea and google tells you that 4,057 people have already thought of that.
I can't even imagine how these would taste like butterfinger, so crazy!! Can't wait to try them!
Awesome! I must try this.
HA! Jenni nailed it! My husband and I laugh like crazy people every time it comes on the radio. "Wrapped up like a douche?" We are also 6 years old.
I'm going to put candy eyes on everything from now on.
I love this!!! I can't wait to try!
WOW! Thanks for posting! I love Butterfingers and this would make CUTE Halloween pops. I'm so going to stock up on candy corn and make some of this!
I never sing that song right either. And I love Googling everything, too. My two best Googles this year have been how to remove tarnish from your silver and how to make your own bias tape for sewing. Good stuff! These look delicious and fairly easy. Love the owls!!!
So completely creative-I love it!
So cute! I like that you made candy pops that weren't just the melts, excited to try them :-)
Oh and I am a googler as well, you can find anything out with google!
If you ever decide to start a cult, even one of those mass marriage ones, I'll be the first to join. Just keep these in steady supply at the compound.
Wow!
I love real butterfingers, does the peanut butter/candy corn filling really taste like the real thing?
Holy… you and me? We're awesome. My family calls me to google stuff for THEM. What can I say? I'm pretty awesome at googling. And butterfingers are my favorite candy bar, which means I pretty much love this post (and you). Aww.
Yum -they look fantastic! I think a candy corn run is in my future…
Totally adorable. I like that you turned them into lollipops!
{Long live google!!!}
Seriously Kristan… These are absolutely amazing, and the edible eyes put it over the top. I have a bunch of those eyes to use for creepy Halloween cookies. I have to make these for Halloween, and I'm going to put, "Guess whoooo's wishing you a Happy Halloween" because I'm corny like that and proud of it!
I'm going to be the dork that says it…microwave for 15 MINUTES? Alright…if you say so! :) These look amazing, my husband is going to love you forever!
Alright Myrnie, can I just hire you as a proof reader?
I meant 15 seconds. Sorry :(
Oh my gosh that's too cool! So what does candy corn and PB taste like together?
you. are. awesome.
cooking with candy corn – you are my idol. : )
I can't wait to try this! I love butterfingers and I'm completely intrigued as to how candy corn and peanut butter make this delicious treat! And those owls.. too cute!
If I buy a lollipop mold it is TOTALLY your fault. Just letting you know!
Adorable! I know we share a love for owls so these are extra awesome coming from you!
PS: I just googled you. ;)
This is too cool, I'll def. be making it!
I too am guilty of being a googler! Seriously these are too cute…love that owl mold.
I am obsessed with GOoGLE! If Google said, "Heather, my love will you marry me?" I would scream yes and immediately schedule a photographer to to take our engagement photos!!! My husband thinks he can google but I am QUEEN! there truely is an art to it. People ask me a question at work and I say hold on I'll google it.. then they back down like ohh never mind and before they can finish saying nevermind I got it!! They are all so amazed yet none of them have picked it up. I have a google android phone I have google email (gmail) I just love it!! And I HATE when you think you have a totally kick butt idea and find it all over google images… it really knocks you down a few pegs!!
Ha! I found you through google. I love your site and I am so making these for Halloween at work! Thank you!
How cool. Do they taste crunchy like a butterfinger…or just have the flavor?
These were SUPER easy and they are so dang cute!! I love love love this recipe…and they really do taste like a butterfinger!
Wow, that recipe just made me drool, literally. FINALLY a way for me to love candy corn. Wow.
I LOVE candy corn. Love love love it! You know that part in Elf when he lists his favorite food groups, Candy, Candy Canes, Candy Corn, and Syrup?? That's totally me!! And I didn't get any candy corn this year;(
