Mother’s Day
I love Mother’s Day.
Besides Halloween and Christmas, it is my absolute favorite holiday. I love Mother’s Day even more than my birthday. Because everyone has a birthday. Not everyone can be a mom on Mother’s Day.
Being a mom makes me feel like part of a club. Like I’ve been let in on a huge secret. Regardless of what kind of mom you are, whether your kids have a bedtime or not, whether you are the type to force them to eat broccoli or just shrug it off, if you are a mom that spanks, or a mom that doesn’t….at the end of the day, we are all just moms.
We’ve all experienced that weird combination of joy and fear when we took our first pregnancy test……and the thrill of that first kick in our belly. We’ve all passed the “how many days can you go on zero sleep” initiation during the first few months….and wiped tears from our eyes as we witnessed our little one’s first steps. We all feel that tug at our heart as we watch our kindergartner walk up the steps of the school for the first time…..and get angry the first time they lie about not having homework.
Whether we have a job outside the home, or the home is our job, we love our children with a fierceness we never knew.
In these things, we are united. We understand each other. And that is what I love about Mother’s Day. Knowing that I share this secret with mothers of all ages, mothers from all corners of the world. And I am so grateful to be a part of it.
In honor of moms everywhere, I will be posting various Mother’s Day gift ideas every Friday until the big day. Maybe you still haven’t thought of a gift for your mom….or maybe you’d like to point out a few of these to your husband….or maybe you’d like to buy something for yourself. Before you even say that you don’t buy a Mother’s Day gift for yourself, I’d like you to look back on the day that you went into labor. And all the sleepless nights. And all the poopy diapers. If you want to buy yourself a little something, go for it. You totally deserve it.
My husband got me a Jessie Steele cupcake apron for Christmas and I love it. It’s super cute and has a fun retro look. Every mom deserves to feel this fab in the kitchen.
I love this line of coin purses and compacts, they are so Mad Men.
All fabulous women need a little music to cook to…..
Because it’s cute. And unnecessary.
Because anything baked in a heart shaped pan just tastes better.
And because maybe you just can’t justify spending that much on a heart shaped pan…..
We all love to smell good…and who wouldn’t love these sitting on their dresser?
A bit pricey, but worth every penny. This thing has totally changed my life. If I could afford it, I’d buy everyone in the world a Kindle.
If nothing above fits your fancy, I’ll be listing more ideas next week.
Happy Friday!!

Thanks for visiting my blog! I realize you could be doing more important things with your time. Like watching the news or washing socks. I hope you stay awhile. Much more fun than socks, I promise.

Awesome ideas! I've been drooling over those Jessie Steele aprons too.
Wonderful idea, I'm looking forward to reading more of your suggestions for mother's day :) I love the heart shaped pan :)
